However, Matthew had already hung up, though she hadn’t realized it immediately.

Distracted by the call, Arabella had momentarily lost control of the virtual aircraft, resulting in an instant crash sequence.
“Ah!” Lucas sighed as he watched the simulated crash unfold on his monitor. If she hadn’t taken that call, she definitely wouldn’t have crashed.
Since the crash had already happened, Arabella stepped out of the simulator pod and went to sit on a nearby bench for a breather.
Lucas sat down beside her. “You definitely wouldn’t have crashed if you hadn’t picked up.”
“The phone just kept ringing. I felt I had to answer it,” Arabella replied, her tone laced with helpless resignation.
It was all Matthew’s fault for calling at such a moment. After all her training runs, this was her first crash–and it was thanks to him.
Seeing her vexed expression, Lucas asked casually, “Who was it that called at such an inconvenient time?”
“Ugh, just a stubborn patient,” Arabella said with a sigh.
“A stubborn patient? What do you mean?” Lucas looked puzzled.
“Someone who doesn’t follow their doctor’s orders,” Arabella clarified, sounding exasperated.
“If they don’t listen to their doctor, how do they expect to recover?” Lucas asked, genuinely confused.
“Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they don‘ want to get better. He’s certainly a piece of work,” Arabella said, equally baffled by Matthew. She had told him clearly to cut out the coffee, but he hadn’t listened. She couldn’t tell if he was deliberately trying to provoke her or if he just didn’t care about his own health.
“Patients like that can be incredibly frustrating… Lucas sympathized.
“So, are you going to go check on this patient now?” he inquired.
“No. If he won’t follow instructions, let him be uncomfortable for a while. It’s not a life- threatening condition. I’m finishing this session rst,” Arabella declared, standing up and heading back to the simulator.

“You’re still going to train? But your patient isn’t feeling well–won’t it get worse if you don’t go?” Lucas, not fully understanding the context, expressed concern.
“No, it won’t. I know what I’m doing,” Arabella assured him as she settled back into the simulator seat to resume her training.
Seeing she wasn’t worried, Lucas remained at his station to supervise her session.
This time, without any interruptions, Arabella quickly and efficiently completed the day’s training objectives.
“Not bad at all. You were not only quicker this round, but your handling was much more precise,” Lucas praised with an approving smile.
“It was alright. At least I managed not to crash this time,” Arabella replied with a light chuckle.
“I’ll head out now. See you later,” Arabella said, bidding farewell to Lucas.
“Alright, take care,” Lucas said, watching her gather her things and leave.

In her car, Arabella took out her phone and called Matthew. “Are you still at the office?”
“Yes, I’m at the office,” Matthew replied, understanding that her call meant she was on her
way.
“Okay, I’m heading over now,” Arabella said before ending the call.
Soon after, Arabella’s car pulled up in front of the Horizon Building.
She got out and walked into the sleek, modern lobby. Andy was already waiting for her. As soon as he saw Arabella enter, he approached to greet her.
“Ms. Hamilton, right this way.”
Andy escorted Arabella directly to Matthew’s office. Pushing open the heavy office door, he announced, “Mr. Stewart, Ms. Hamilton is here.”
Matthew set aside the documents he was reviewing and looked up as Arabella walked in.
“Have a seat.”
“Still able to work, I see. It can’t be that serious, then,” Arabella remarked, her tone lightly sarcastic.
“If I push through the discomfort, I can still manage,” Matthew replied calmly.
