Chapter 184 Brotherly Concern
She suspected the group of men in black Colton described was likely sent by Matthew.
“Okay,” Colton replied before ending the call.
Just then, there was a knock at Arabella’s door.
“Come in,” she said, looking toward the entrance.

The door opened gently, and Ethan walked in carrying a small plate of her favorite fruits.
“How did you know I was in the mood for fruit?” Arabella smiled at him.
“Call it a brother’s intuition,” Ethan joked, walking over and sitting beside her.
“I don’t believe that for a second. Mom told you to bring it up, didn’t she?” Arabella said skeptically, picking up an apple slice and taking a bite.
Ethan gave a slight shrug. “Guilty as charged.”
“How did you sleep last night? Was the cut bothering you at all?” Ethan asked, his expression concerned.
“Slept fine. No pain.
“And I’m sorry you got the blame last night for no reason. Once my foot is better, I’m treating you to a proper dinner,” Arabella offered with an apologetic smile.
“Good, you remembered. Next time you go out, just be more careful. No more getting hurt.
“You saw how worried Mom and Dad were,” Ethan reminded her, his eyes fond.
“Yeah, I know.”
“Honestly, I just took Edward for a walk on the beach yesterday. I have no idea how I managed to get hurt. It’s a little ridiculous,” Arabella complained, looking annoyed.
“Alright, let’s not dwell on the injury. Did you and Edward have a good time yesterday?” Ethan asked, steering the conversation elsewhere.
“We did. We even had ice cream. It was really nice.” Arabella recalled, remembering the relaxed feeling of sitting by the shore with Edward.

“That’s good. I imagine you took him because you figured he must be stir–crazy, stuck in that hospital room,” Ethan guessed correctly.
“Exactly. Anyone would feel cooped up in one room all the time, let alone Edward, who’s got a lot on his mind.
“The whole Macdonald family bankruptcy really hit him hard,” Arabella said with a hint of helplessness. She couldn’t make Edward’s worries disappear, so she just tried to get him out and about to lighten his mood.
“Don’t worry too much. Edward’s a grown man; he’ll be alright.
“Some people are just worriers by nature. Even without the family troubles, he’d probably find something else to be anxious about.
“So, it’s good that you take him out when you can.” Ethan offered an encouraging smile.
“Maybe it’s because he’s been in poor health for so long, spending a lot of time alone, that shaped his personality.
“I remember he wasn’t like this when we were kids.
“I think I really should make more of an effort to get him out and socializing. Maybe being around people more could help him get back to his old, easier–going self.” Arabella found a new resolve after hearing Ethan’s perspective.
“Enough about Edward for now. Can you hurry your team up and send me those revised blueprints? I’m getting impatient,” Arabella urged, looking at him.
“Just be patient. Focus on getting better first. What can you possibly do with blueprints in your current state?” Ethan countered, glancing pointedly at her bandaged foot.
“What’s wrong with my current state? Who says I can’t do anything just because I’m injured? I can still function, you know,” Arabella shot back, giving him a look.
“Besides, once I get the blueprints, I need to review them. Since I’m stuck at home with nothing else to do right now, it’s the perfect time to go over them carefully. If any changes are needed, we can make the adjustments then.” Arabella had her reasoning lined up.
“You should really just focus on resting. The company expansion isn’t urgent–your recovery is the top priority right now.
“Staying home and healing properly is your main job. And honestly, you’re already miles ahead of Naomi; there’s no need to push yourself so hard.

“Grandpa and Dad gave you the company to manage, not to run yourself into the ground over.” Ethan’s reminder was filled with brotherly concern.
“Our family has more than enough. You could sit back and do absolutely nothing, and you’d still be fine for life. The point is for you not to overwork yourself.” Ethan looked at her with affectionate worry.
“Technically, you’re not wrong… but something about that logic feels a little off to me.”
“Off how?” Ethan asked, puzzled.
“Hard to pin down. But I don’t want to feel like I’m just sitting idle at home every day.
“People need a purpose, something they want to do. Otherwise, life gets pretty dull, don’t you think?” Arabella smiled at him, blinking.
“Alright, do what you want. I’ll tell my team to finalize the revisions sooner and send them over, so you won’t be bored.
“And if just staring at blueprints still bores you, I can always find you some other… light duties,” Ethan said with a faint, teasing smile.
“Definitely not necessary,” Arabella flatly refused. She only wanted to work on what interested her–taking on random tasks held no appeal.
Ethan gave a small, conceding smile. He truly never knew what to do with this sister of his.
“Alright, get some rest. I’m heading out.”
“Okay, bye.” Arabella waved him off.
Just after Ethan left, her phone rang.

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
