“Go ahead,” Ryan said, looking at Robert expectantly.

It sounded like Robert wasn’t eager to be too hard on Matthew, but he also claimed he didn’t agree to cancel the engagement. What was he thinking?
“Here’s my thought,” Robert began. “The reason I said I don’t agree to canceling the engagement is that the original agreement was between the Stewart family and the Hamilton family. Since Matthew and Naomi don’t seem to be a fit, you do have another granddaughter, after all. Why not let the two of them spend some time together and see how things go? It might turn out to be a wonderful match.”
“Grandfather!” Matthew was stunned. What was his grandfather saying?
“Robert!” Arabella was equally shocked. Was Robert’s imagination running a bit wild?
What did this have to do with her? She had just come to visit her grandparents. This felt like a disaster she hadn’t signed up for.
Ryan had already been considering this idea, so now that Robert voiced it, he was naturally in favor. He let out a hearty laugh. “Great minds think alike.”
“Grandfather!” Arabella never expected Ryan to be on the same page.
She instantly felt a headache coming on. How could both elders be thinking this way?
“Excellent. Since Ryan agrees, shall we consider it settled?” Robert probed, seeking Ryan’s final
⚫ confirmation.
“Settled.” Ryan nodded with satisfaction.
“Grandfather, isn’t this moving a little too fast?” Alfred immediately objected. Arabella had only just been found; how could they already be talking about an arrangement for her?
Ryan shot Alfred a stern look. “What was that?”
Under Ryan’s questioning gaze, Alfred instantly backed down a little. “I just mean this isn’t a small decision. Shouldn’t Mom and Dad come over so we can all discuss it together?”
“No need for you to worry about that. I’ll talk to them myself,” Ryan said coolly
“Alright then,” Alfred conceded with a helpless sigh. His gaze flicked to Arabella; he subtly jiggled his phone where she could see it, then turned and left the room.
He needed to call for reinforcements. He hoped his parents could talk some sense into Ryan. They couldn’t let him marry Arabella off so soon.
“Arabella, Matthew is our guest. Why don’t you show him around the grounds?” Ryan, keen on playing matchmaker, naturally tried to create an opportunity for them to be alone.
“Grandfather, maybe not. I’m not completely familiar with the estate myself. I wouldn’t want to give Mr.

Stewart a poor tour.” Arabella made an excuse to refuse. The situation was awkward enough; being alone with him would only make it more so.
“It’s fine, just a casual walk. Go on,” Ryan insisted.
Robert chimed in, “Yes, go ahead. Ryan and I have some catching up to do. You young people don’t need to stick around with us old folks.”
Arabella’s lip twitched slightly. Robert’s matchmaking was way too obvious.
She glanced back at her grandparents and their expectant, beaming smiles. With a resigned sigh, she gave
“Mr. Stewart, after you,” Arabella said, her tone even more polite, hoping it might remind everyone present to be reasonable. She and Matthew really weren’t close!
“Alright,” Matthew replied, equally resigned, as he followed Arabella out.
He never imagined that coming here to end an engagement would turn out like this.
Watching their retreating figures, Ryan and Robert shared a look brimming with quiet satisfaction.
“They look quite well–matched, don’t they?”
“Absolutely, a perfect match.”
Lena also nodded in agreement. “It really does seem promising.”
In their social circles, Matthew was pretty much considered the most eligible young man worthy of their granddaughter.

“Mr. Stewart, why didn’t you let me know you were coming to the house with your grandfather? And weren’t you here to break off the engagement? What’s all this about now?” Once outside, Arabella immediately questioned Matthew with clear displeasure.
“I came to break off the engagement, Grandfather came to apologize. As for what happened after you arrived… well,” Matthew shrugged, indicating he had no control over that part. Today’s events had truly taken an unexpected turn.
“Ugh,” Arabella sighed. “There’s no other way now. Let’s just hope Mom and Dad can talk Grandfather out
of it.”
Then, she looked at Matthew, “You should try talking to Robert when you get back, too.”
“Talk to him about what?” Matthew asked, a hint of playfulness in his tone.
This woman was different from others.
“About canceling this new idea, of course,” Arabella frowned. “You’re not thinking of just going along with
