“I know, Mom. I’ll be quick,” Naomi replied.
“Alright, go on then,” Florence said with a warm smile.
The two girls headed out and got into the car.

“Naomi, why did you back down today? If we’d pushed just a little more, it might have worked,” Ruby asked once they were on the road. They’d been so close, but Arabella had still ended up on top.
Naomi’s voice was low and dispirited. “Couldn’t you tell? It was pointless.”
She’d been part of this family for years and had never received a private plane. She simply couldn’t measure up to Arabella.
“Ugh,” Ruby let out a resentful sigh. “It’s all Arabella’s fault. She’s way too sharp.”
‘Sometimes I really wonder if I’m just… not as good as her,” Naomi murmured, her confidence shaken.
“You can’t think like that!” Ruby said, a note of panic in her voice as she hurried to reassure Naomi. “You’re the talented one. You were top of your class, graduated early for that internship, and now you run your own company so well. You can’t sell yourself short.”
She couldn’t let Naomi lose her nerve. If Naomi gave up, who did Ruby have left? She’d be completely overshadowed by Arabella.
Naomi gave a bitter chuckle. She used to think she was something special, even felt proud of her accomplishments. But since Arabella showed up, it all started to feel a little pathetic.
‘Naomi, think about Matthew,” Ruby pressed, playing her trump card. She knew what mattered most to Naomi. “If you give up now, what about Mr. Stewart? Are you just going to hand him over, too?”
‘Matthew…” Naomi repeated softly.
That was right. She couldn’t admit defeat. Losing to Arabella meant losing Matthew.
‘Exactly. Think about Mr. Stewart.”
Naomi nodded slowly, a flicker of resolve returning to her eyes. “You’re right. I can’t lose.”
Seeing Naomi’s determination solidify, Ruby lowered her voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “Besides, there’s something I haven’t told you yet. That… matter I was looking into is starting to show some leads…”
“You mean…?”
Ruby’s expression turned smug. “Just wait for my good news.”
This time, she was going to expose Arabella for who she really was.
The next day dawned bright and clear.
Arabella woke up a little earlier than usual. After getting ready, she went down to the kitchen.

When Florence came downstairs and saw her, she was surprised. “Honey, what are you doing in the kitchen so early?”
“I made a herbal tonic. I’m taking it with me later,” Arabella explained.
“Where to?” Florence asked, curious. Tonics were usually for recuperation or health maintenance.
“I’m going to check on Robert today,” Arabella said.
“Oh, of course.” Florence understood. “Do you need any help, sweetie?”
“No, it’s almost done,” Arabella replied with a smile.
“Alright. Come have breakfast when you’re finished,” Florence reminded her.
“Okay,” Arabella agreed, turning back to adjust the stove’s flame.
A little while later, the family gathered for breakfast.

“Alfred, you don’t need to come with me today. I’m going to Robert’s, and if nothing else comes up, I’ll head straight home afterwards,” Arabella said.
“Alright. Then I’ll follow up on that other matter,” Alfred said.
“What other matter?” Ethan asked curiously.
Arabella shot a quick glance at Alfred. That topic couldn’t be discussed here.
‘Just a case I’m reviewing,” Alfred said smoothly.
“Are you heading out again?” Frank asked.
“No, just a conference call,” Alfred clarified.
Knowing Alfred’s work often involved discretion, no one pressed for details.
Arabella quietly relaxed and went back to her meal.
After breakfast, Arabella picked up the insulated carrier and turned to her parents. “Dad, Mom, I’m heading out.”
“Have a good day,” Jonathan said, his eyes kind.
“Try to be back for dinner. I’m planning something special,” Florence added with a warm smile.
“I will,” Arabella promised before leaving Cloudrise Manor.
