Chapter 287 Plans and Promises
“Don’t mention it,” Lucas replied. “We’re friends. Helping out is what friends do.”
Arabella smiled, her expression warm. “You’re right. I do consider you a friend.”
As he looked at her, a flicker of surprise passed through Lucas‘ eyes.

For just a moment, he had sensed a formidable aura from her–an air of authority that felt more weighty than simple camaraderie. It carried a subtle note of protection, as though she had already drawn him into her circle.
The thought was fleeting, and Lucas almost chuckled at the notion.
“Having your approval is an honor,” he said, a soft smile touching his lips. Being acknowledged by her in this way filled him with quiet contentment.
“I’d better head inside now. See you later!” With a final smile, Arabella turned and walked toward the villa entrance.
Lucas watched her until she disappeared from view, the warmth of his smile lingering in his eyes.
Once inside, Arabella called out, “Edward?”
“Arabella! You’re here!” Edward greeted her, his face lighting up with a warm, brotherly smile.
“Just came to see how you’re doing,” she said, studying him closely. “How have you been feeling these last few days?”
“Really good,” Edward replied sincerely.
“Have a seat. Let me check your vitals,” Arabella suggested.
After Edward sat down, Arabella gently checked his condition.
“Good, It looks like everything’s stabilized,” she said, genuinely relieved and pleased.
After all the effort and care, they were finally seeing positive, lasting results.
“I feel different, too–stronger, more steady,” Edward agreed with a firm nod.
“In that case, your follow–up appointment the day after tomorrow should go smoothly,” Arabella said, a weight lifting from her shoulders.
Hope shone brightly in Edward’s eyes. “Yeah. Once I get the all–clear, I can finally start living a normal life.”
He could go out, work, build something for himself and be in a position to protect and look out for her, too.
“Actually, Edward, I also wanted to talk to you about the company,” Arabella said, shifting topics. “The seed funding is alt arranged.”
“That was fast!” Edward was pleasantly surprised. He’d expected more hurdles.
Arabella smiled. “The initial round isn’t huge, so it was straightforward.”
“Arabella, I owe this to you,” Edward said gratefully. Without her, none of this would have been possible,

“First, think about what direction you want to take the company in,” Arabella advised. With the capital secured, it was time to plan.
Edward thought it over. “I want to focus on investment.”
“Investment?” Arabella looked at him, waiting to hear his thoughts.
“I know the initial capital is modest,” Edward continued. “I’ll start with smaller, careful investments–gain experience, build the fund gradually, and do my best to grow the firm steadily.”
Having studied finance, he felt investment was the most natural field for him to enter. For the stage he was at, it seemed the most direct and feasible path forward.
“Alright. If that’s your decision, we’ll start with investment,” Arabella said, agreeing with his reasoning.
“You support the idea?” Edward’s eyes brightened with a spark of excitement.
Arabella smiled. “Of course. Besides, I have no reason to object.”
“But investing carries risk. Aren’t you worried that…” If he failed, even with a small–scale operation, it would mean wasting the foundation Arabella had helped him build.
“Edward, I believe in your judgment. Move forward with confidence,” Arabella said, her gaze full of trust.
Feeling bolstered, Edward made a serious promise. “Alright. I won’t let you down.”
“And don’t put too much pressure on yourself. This is your field of expertise. I’m sure you’ll handle it well,” Arabella added reassuringly, her eyes gentle.
“Yeah.” Edward nodded, his resolve firm.
“Then it’s settled. I’ll arrange for some assistance with the initial setup. For now, you focus on your appointment and tie up any other loose ends,” Arabella instructed.
Understanding her meaning, Edward thought for a moment. “About visiting my uncle… I think I’ll wait a little longer. I’d like to go see him once the company is properly established.”
Arabella nodded in agreement. “Whatever you think is best.”
She understood his thinking–establishing a stable life for himself first would give him stronger footing and a clearer identity when he eventually reconnected with family.
“The early–stage work will be tough on you,” Edward said gratefully.
“Just wait for the good news,” Arabella replied with an encouraging smile.
Edward glanced at the clock. “It’s almost noon. Stay for lunch.”
