“Mm,” Freya grumbled as she settled into the passenger seat. “If I weren’t in this state, I would have taught that little witch a proper lesson back there.“”

After a moment, she added bitterly, “And Edward… he actually dared to stand up to me. His wings have really hardened.”

“Don’t get yourself worked up. Your health is the priority right now,” Calvin soothed, starting the engine. “As for the company… it’s just a small startup. We can make sure it never gets off the ground. Once he runs into a dead end, he’ll have no choice but to come home.”

Freya’s eyes lit up with vindictive delight. “That’s perfect. You always know what to do.”

“Leave it to me. I’ll take care of the details,” Calvin assured her.

“Good,” Freya said, a cold sense of satisfaction already creeping in.

As Calvin pulled the car away from the hospital curb, Freya turned to him. “Is everything settled at the house? What did you tell Harper about Carter?”

“It’s handled. I told her you had an accident while traveling abroad and came back to recover, and that Carter had to stay behind to manage a prolonged business crisis. He can’t return for the foreseeable future,” Calvin explained.

“And she believed that?” The story did sound plausible enough.

Calvin nodded. “She did.”

“Good,” Freya sighed in relief, then lowered her voice. “From now on, we have to be careful with what we say at home. We can’t afford any slips.”

“Understood,” Calvin promised.

Freya leaned her head back against the seat and let out a long, weary sigh. “I’m going to rest my eyes. Wake me when we’re home.”

“Will do.”

At a cozy bistro nearby, Arabella and Edward found a secluded booth in the corner.

“It’s quiet over here. This should work.”

“Yeah, this is fine.”

After they were seated and had ordered, Arabella looked at Edward with concern. “Are you holding up okay?”

Today’s encounter must have been draining for him.

Edward offered a self–deprecating smile. “Arabella, am I really that oblivious?”

Such a major family scandal, and he had been completely in the dark.

“You weren’t involved in the business, Edward. It’s not surprising you didn’t know,” Arabella said gently.

“What’s done is done. All we can do now is focus on the future,” Arabella encouraged him. “I know you can rebuild something great. A new Macdonald Group.”

Edward nodded, resolve firming in his eyes. “I’ll give it everything I have.”

“Don’t sound so serious! I know you can do it,” Arabella said, her smile warm and confident.

Seeing her unwavering belief, Edward felt some of the tension leave his shoulders. “If you say I can, then I guess I must be able to.”

“Of course! My brother is the best,” Arabella declared proudly..

Edward couldn’t help but chuckle at her expression. Looking at her bright, encouraging smile felt like sunshine breaking through

clouds.

“Hey, after we get the final results this afternoon, let’s go look at cars,” Arabella suggested casually.

“Cars?” Edward looked puzzled.

“Yeah. Now that you’re a CEO, you’ll need your own wheels. It’ll make running the business much easier,” she explained matter–of- factly.

Edward rubbed the back of his neck, a little embarrassed. “Maybe we should wait a while on that.”

The company itself was only possible because of Arabella’s help. Where would he find money for a car?

As if reading his mind, Arabella smiled. “Don’t worry about it. When my friend structured the business loan for you, they included a reasonable allowance for a company vehicle.”

Edward looked up, surprised. “Seriously?”

“Absolutely,” Arabella confirmed with a grin.

A relieved, somewhat sheepish smile spread across Edward’s face. “Arabella… I know you orchestrated all of this. Thank you.”

“Edward, if you thank me one more time, I’m going to get seriously annoyed,” Arabella pretended to scowl.

“Alright, alright. No more thank–yous,” Edward agreed, his fondness for her clear in his eyes.

“That’s better,” Arabella said, satisfied.

Their food arrived, and Edward nudged a plate toward her. “Come on, eat up. You need your energy.”

As they ate, their conversation drifted to plans and dreams for the new company….
