“If it’s truly a one–of–a–kind piece, then it would have greater value. But we can’t be sure yet if it’s actually unique,” Arabella said.
Ethan nodded. “True. But even on its own, this piece is quite significant. It’s definitely worth adding to a collection.”
“So… what if I pick this one?” Arabella suggested.
“Even though this pendant is an antique, the craftsmanship isn’t very refined–honestly, it looks a bit crude. What kind of collection value could it really have? You might be misjudging it. Maybe the sales associate can explain it better?” Naomi’s tone sounded like she was trying to be helpful, but her words came off awkward and misplaced.
Was she hoping things wouldn’t go well for Arabella, or was she making fun of her for not knowing better?
Calmly, Arabella responded, “I’ll take this one, please.”
“Of course,” the sales associate replied.
“Arabella, I really am trying to help. You don’t have to buy something just to prove a point,” Naomi said, putting on a concerned look.
“Don’t worry, miss. This pendant is actually quite a valuable collectible. There’s even a touching story behind it. It was part of a matching set, handcrafted by the gentleman in the story for his beloved…” The sales associate smiled warmly as she shared the tale.
Naomi’s cheeks flushed slightly. “Oh… I see.”
“Not only that,” the associate continued, turning back to Arabella, “but from what I’ve heard, the matching piece once surfaced in the city of Doranor. Though no one seems to know who ended up with it.” She added with a hopeful smile, “If fate allows, maybe you’ll be the one to reunite the set.”
“Thank you,” Arabella replied politely.
That was unexpected. She hadn’t imagined there’d be such a story behind the pendant.
“You’re welcome. Is there anything else you’d like to see?” the associate asked.
Arabella nodded. “I’ll look around a bit more.”
“Just let me know if you need anything,” the associate said before stepping away.
“Ethan, what do you think of that handwoven textile over there?” Arabella pointed toward a displayed wall hanging.
“Not bad at all,” Ethan admired. “You really have an eye for these things. Such a well–preserved vintage piece–it’s quite rare.”
After discussing a few more items, the two quickly made their final choices.
Ethan completed the payment and filled out the delivery form. “Once it’s packaged, please send it to this address.”
“Certainly, sir,” the associate said, accepting the form to pass along to shipping.
Noticing Matthew was still empty–handed, Arabella asked, “Mr. Stewart, did you want to look around here some more?”

“No, I was just browsing,” Matthew replied.
“Alright then. Should we head to the wellness section?” Arabella suggested.
He had accompanied her and Ethan while they shopped; it seemed only fair to return the courtesy.

“Matthew, are you picking out supplements for Mr. Stewart? I can help with that!” Naomi’s eyes lit up. This was familiar territory- she often bought vitamins and supplements for Robert.
In the collectibles section, she’d been completely outshone by Arabella and had felt thoroughly embarrassed.
Now was her chance to show Matthew what she knew.
But Matthew responded coolly, “That won’t be necessary. Dr. Hamilton is more familiar with my grandfather’s health needs.”
“I know about Mr. Stewart’s regimen too. I was the one who picked out his supplements before,” Naomi insisted.
She couldn’t let Arabella seize this opportunity to get closer to Matthew!
“Matthew, I really can help,” Naomi said, her eyes beginning to glisten as she put on a pleading look.
Arabella felt a slight headache coming on and frowned. “Actually, just get the same brand I recommended last time. You can continue with those for your grandfather.
“Mr. Stewart, Ethan and I should probably get going,” Arabella said, eager to leave and enjoy some peace.
Matthew’s expression darkened. “You’re leaving now?”
“Yes,” Arabella replied, looking puzzled. “Was there something else?”
Why did he seem annoyed?
Matthew’s gaze sharpened. “We haven’t gotten the supplements yet. Are you really planning to walk off?”
For some reason, Arabella sensed a hint of danger in his tone. Was he actually upset?
Blinking in confusion, she explained, “I already told you–just get the same ones as before. You’ve bought them yourself.”
Did he really need her to come along for that?
His memory couldn’t be that bad, could it?
Visibly exasperated, Matthew frowned. “We’ll leave after we buy them.”
