Chapter 375 Misidentified as a Couple at Gallery
Arabella shook her head. “My brother prefers abstract art.”
“I see,” Matthew replied, his tone suggesting understanding.
So, she didn’t paint in that style because it wasn’t to Edward’s taste…
Arabella suddenly turned to look at Matthew. This guy was laying another trap for her!

“Yeah, and it’s just a personal hobby. My paintings are just for fun. They’re nowhere near the level of professional artists,” Arabella said, pretending helplessness.
Matthew remarked meaningfully, “Your work is quite accomplished. It holds its own against pieces by the artist who goes by
Stella.”
“Mr. Stewart, you’re exaggerating. I don’t possess that kind of skill,” Arabella said with an embarrassed smile.
She was well aware Matthew was a formidable opponent.
“You’re too modest, Dr. Hamilton,” Matthew complimented.
“And you’ve seen that I only paint landscapes, which are quite different from the two works you saw earlier,” Arabella pointed out, trying to steer Matthew away from drawing connections.
“Speaking of Stella’s landscape works, I was fortunate enough to view one previously. It did share certain qualities with your paintings. You should try to see one if you get the opportunity, Dr. Hamilton,” Matthew said.
On the surface, Matthew seemed to be conceding the point, but in reality, his suspicion of Arabella remained.
Only then did Arabella fully understand why Matthew had been testing her all along.
“Well, you are quite fortunate, Mr. Stewart. I haven’t seen many of Stella’s originals. That’s partly why I came today–out of admiration,” Arabella sighed.
Matthew looked at her, his deep gaze unconsciously making her feel under pressure.
Arabella didn’t waver and met his eyes calmly.
After all, he had no proof. No matter how he tested her, as long as she didn’t admit anything, it would lead nowhere.
After a moment, Matthew’s lips curved slightly. “Let’s continue. There’s more to see ahead.”
“Alright,” Arabella agreed, feeling a secret wave of relief.
Just as they began walking forward, a small child suddenly darted out from between displays and collided squarely with Arabella.
“Molly, stop!” a startled voice cried out, but it was too late.
Caught off guard, Arabella lost her balance from the impact and fell against Matthew’s chest.
Matthew instinctively wrapped an arm around her to steady her, his brow furrowing slightly. “Are you alright?”

“I’m fine.” Arabella shook her head and quickly righted herself, putting a small distance between them.
“I am so sorry!” The child’s parent rushed over and took the little girl’s hand. “Molly, apologize right now.”
Molly looked up with wide eyes and said in a sweet, tiny voice, “Sorry.”

Arabella gave the girl’s head a gentle pat. “It’s okay. But you mustn’t run in here, alright? You need to listen to your mom.”
“Okay. Thank you, pretty lady,” Molly smiled, relieved she wasn’t in trouble.
The parent gently scolded the child. “Molly, mind your manners. You can’t just call her ‘lady‘ like that.” The parent then turned to Matthew and Arabella. “Sir, ma’am, please forgive her. She’s just a child and doesn’t know any better.”
“No, we’re not-” Arabella began to explain.
But Matthew interjected smoothly, “It’s quite alright.”
Arabella looked at Matthew in surprise. “Mr. Stewart!”
Why didn’t he let her correct the misunderstanding?
Matthew had already started walking ahead, tossing back only, “No need to waste time on it.”
Arabella frowned. While that sounded like his typical pragmatic self, why did she get the feeling he simply didn’t want to clarify?
“Mommy, why can’t I call her a lady?” Molly asked, genuinely confused.
“Because the lady is married,” the parent explained softly.
Molly still didn’t understand. “If she’s married, can’t I call her a lady?”
“Well… it’s more respectful to say ‘ma’am‘. Especially since you just bumped into her, you should be extra polite when apologizing, right?”
“So I have to say ‘ma’am‘ when I say sorry and can’t say ‘lady‘?”
Listening to their slightly muddled discussion, Arabella instantly saw the merit in Matthew’s approach.
He’s right. There really is no point wasting time on this. They were strangers who would likely never meet again. A minor misunderstanding didn’t matter.
The two of them continued through the galleries, pausing occasionally to quietly discuss a particular artist’s technique or the composition of a painting.
It seemed neither of them was particularly concerned about being mistaken for a couple…
Or perhaps they were both deliberately avoiding the subject.
Arabella stopped at the exit of the gallery and looked at Matthew. “Mr. Stewart, we’ve seen the entire exhibition. My task is complete.”
Matthew’s brow furrowed slightly. “You’re going back to him?”
“Yes. We came together, and he’s still waiting for me. Of course I have to go back.” She couldn’t just break her word and leave Lucas

behind.
“Arabella!” Just then, a voice called her name.
They both turned to see Lucas walking toward them.
“How did you find us here?” Arabella waved and smiled.
When he reached them, Lucas grinned. “Great minds think alike. I figured you’d be finishing up about now, so I came to find you.”
Arabella couldn’t help but roll her eyes playfully. “More like you got bored waiting.”
Lucas gave a sheepish smile, neither confirming nor denying it.
In truth, he had only managed to browse independently for a short while before growing restless, his thoughts constantly drifting
back to Arabella.
So, he had followed at a discrete distance and converged with them here.
“Did you enjoy looking around? Do you want to see anything else?” Arabella asked Lucas without overthinking it.

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
