Chapter 377 Anonymous Threat
“It only has ‘Mr. Faye‘ on the sender line,” Chloe said, placing the compact parcel on Arabella’s desk.
“Mr. Faye?” Arabella frowned, puzzled. Who was that?
Seeing her expression, Chloe hesitated. “You don’t know who that is, Ms. Hamilton?”
“Not at all.” Her first thought had been Frank, but ‘Faye‘… she truly drew a blank.
Chloe thought for a moment. “Should I try the contact number, then?”
With that, she picked up the desk phone and dialed the number listed on the label.
“The number you have dialed is no longer in service…”
Chloe’s face lost a little color. “Ms. Hamilton, it’s disconnected.”
“Disconnected?” Arabella was surprised.
An unfamiliar last name and a dead number… How strange.
Frowning slightly, Chloe said cautiously, “Does this feel… off to you?”
“Let me see it,” Arabella instructed.
Chloe hesitated. “Maybe we should have security or the mailroom take a look first?”
If something was wrong, it could be a real problem.
Arabella couldn’t help a slight smile. “Have you been binge–watching thrillers again? What are you imagining?”
Chloe swallowed. “But it’s just so shady…”
With no proper return address, it didn’t feel right.

“It’s fine, I’ll look at it first.” Arabella reached out, and Chloe reluctantly handed her the box, still warning, “Just… please be careful,
Ms. Hamilton.”
Arabella found her concern somewhat amusing. “Don’t worry. It’s not going to be anything dangerous.”
“How can you be sure?” Chloe asked, surprised.
“The box is light, feels like papers or documents. Even if the sender’s intentions are bad, it’s probably just a nasty letter at worst.” Arabella shrugged calmly.
Seeing her boss‘ composure, Chloe felt her own fear subside, replaced by curiosity. Could it really be a threat?
Arabella opened the cardboard flaps, revealing a standard business envelope inside.
“You were right, Ms. Hamilton!” Chloe exclaimed. “It is a letter! I wonder what it says?”
With a faint, unreadable smile, Arabella opened the envelope and gave it a slight shake. A single folded letter and several

photographs slid onto the desk.
The moment she saw the photos, Chloe’s face changed completely. “Oh my god. Who would do something like this?
‘Ms. Hamilton, we need to call the police!” Chloe said, her voice tight.

Arabella picked up the photos, her eyes narrowing as she took in the graphic, violent images. Her demeanor turned ice–cold.
‘Just someone trying to get under my skin,” she said flatly, setting the photos down and unfolding the letter. It was filled with crude hreats and explicit curses.
Tossing the letter aside, Arabella sneered disdainfully. “Can’t even manage a proper threat. Pathetic.”
‘Ms. Hamilton, do you know who it is?” Chloe asked, bewildered.
‘No,” Arabella replied calmly. But it was undoubtedly someone who held a grudge.
‘So what should we do? Shouldn’t we report it?” Chloe pressed.
Arabella shook her head. “Not yet.”
With only this package as evidence, any official investigation would be slow and likely inconclusive. It was better to wait for the person to get impatient and make a mistake.
‘But…” Chloe worried. “Aren’t you in danger?”
She felt they should identify and stop the person immediately; otherwise, the threat would just linger.
‘it’s fine,” Arabella said, a dark, calculating look in her eyes. “I’m more concerned they won’t make another move.”
If this was just a one–time stunt meant to scare her, it would be terribly boring.
“Should we… take any precautions?” Chloe asked again.
Arabella looked at her assistant, her gaze softening slightly. “It’s alright. You can go back to your work.”
“Huh?” Chloe was taken aback.
“I’ll handle it,” Arabella said, making a gentle shooing motion with her hand. “Go on.”
Chloe could only nod. “Alright. If you need anything at all, Ms. Hamilton, just let me know.”
“Mm,” Arabella acknowledged with a nod.
After Chloe left, Arabella picked up the letter again and scoffed quietly. “Clever enough. A probably fake name, a burner number, a printed letter… not many obvious clues to follow. But…”
For her, this wasn’t much of a challenge.
Her eyes fell on the shipping label on the box. A slight smile touched her lips as she woke her computer and unlocked the screen.
Retrieving information was rarely difficult for her.
Soon, she had accessed the carrier’s website, cross–referenced the tracking number with the dispatch facility and time of scan, ang

then navigated into that facility’s security camera system….

Until a figure in a baseball cap, moving furtively near the package drop–off point, came into view. Arabella let out a quiet, derisive snort. “So it’s her.”
While she hadn’t been certain, seeing Ruby’s familiar silhouette made it feel almost inevitable.
“Ruby, you still haven’t learned,” she murmured. After the humiliating scene with Lucas earlier, Ruby must have been fuming and decided to strike back in this petty way.
After a moment’s thought, Arabella quickly wrote a short, embedded tracking program and sent it disguised within a blank text message to Ruby’s cell number.
Once the digital trace was active, she closed the specialized interfaces on her screen and calmly returned to her regular work.

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
