After Arabella left, Edward looked down at the investment proposal on his desk, feeling a swell of emotion. He really did owe his little sister so much.
After leaving Macdonald Capital, Arabella got into her car and called her mother.
“Mom, I won’t be home for dinner tonight.” She always checked in to avoid anyone worrying.
Florence asked curiously, “What are your plans?”
“I’m meeting someone,” Arabella replied.
“Is it Matthew?” Florence’s tone took on a knowing, gossipy lilt.
Arabella couldn’t help a soft sigh of exasperation. “No, Mom. It’s my brother.”
“Your brother?” Florence was confused. “Didn’t you just have lunch with your brothers?”
“Edward,” Arabella clarified.
“Oh! Your brother from the Macdonald side,” Florence said, understanding dawning.”
“Yes, we’re having dinner. I’ll be home after,” Arabella confirmed.
“Alright then,” Florence said, a hint of regret in her voice. “I was hoping it was Matthew.”
The corner of Arabella’s mouth twitched. She could only change the subject. “Mom, I need to get back to the office. I’ll talk to you
later,”
“Okay, honey, Don’t overdo it.”
“I won’t, Mom. Bye.”
Hanging up, Arabella felt utterly helpless, Did she really seem that difficult to marry off? Why was her family so eager?
Shaking her head with a sigh, she started the car and pulled away from the curb.
While driving, her phone rang again. Seeing it was Lucas, she answered on speaker.
“Lucas, what’s up?”
“Just checking in. Are you done for the day? When can we schedule that driving lesson?” Lucas got straight to the point. He’d been stuck at the academy for days and had missed seeing her.
“Starting tomorrow works,” Arabella agreed. The lessons had been postponed, and she wanted to get her license as soon as possible.
Lucas sounded excited. “Great! I’ll lock it in. You have to show up tomorrow!”

“Mm–hmm,” Arabella replied calmly.
“Beep beep!”
Hearing a car horn through the phone, Lucas asked, “Are you driving? Where are you headed?”
“Back to the office,” Arabella said simply.
Lucas guessed, “Just finished lunch?”
“Yeah.”
Seizing the chance, Lucas invited her. “So, are you free tonight? Let me treat you to dinner.”
“Not tonight. I already have plans.”
“Work stuff?” Lucas inquired.
“No, I’m meeting someone for dinner,” Arabella explained.
“Oh.” Lucas‘ tone held a clear note of disappointment.
“If that’s all, I’ve got to go. I’ll see you at the academy tomorrow.”
“Okay, I won’t hold you up. Drive carefully.”
Arabella gave a light chuckle. “Will do, See you tomorrow.”

After the call, she soon arrived back at the pharmaceutical company and immersed herself in work for the rest of the afternoon.
Evening came quickly.
Arabella pulled up right on time in front of Edward’s office building.
“Arabella!” Edward greeted her with a bright smile as he walked out.
“Hop in,” Arabella said, motioning to the passenger seat.
Once he was settled, she asked with an amused look, “All wrapped up for the day?”
“Yep. Things aren’t too crazy at the startup right now, so I managed to clear my desk,” Edward replied,
“Good. Don’t push yourself too hard,” Arabella advised,
They chatted easily as she drove toward the fairgrounds.
“We’re here,” Arabella announced, parking the car. They both got out, and a wave of lively noise immediately washed over them– music, laughter, and the sizzle of grills.
Edward looked toward the source of the commotion and couldn’t help but exclaim, “Look at all these people! This place is buzzing!”
It was his first time experiencing such a vibrant, everyday atmosphere up close.

“This is the biggest and most popular street fair in the city. It’s basically a social media hotspot now. People even travel here just to visit, so of course it’s crowded,” Arabella explained.
“Ah, that explains the eclectic mix of food stalls and decorations I see.” Edward nodded in understanding.
“It’s right after work now, so this isn’t even the peak crowd. It gets shoulder–to–shoulder later. They also have live music and different performances,” Arabella added, giving him the rundown.
Hearing this, Edward grew even more intrigued. He gently tugged Arabella’s sleeve. “Come on, let’s go check it out!”
“Sure, let’s go.” Agreeing, Arabella followed Edward into the bustling heart of the fair.
Everything was new to Edward. He looked around with wide–eyed curiosity, feeling like he couldn’t take it all in fast enough.
“Arabella, look at that!”
“And over there!”
“Wow, what is that?”
Arabella watched him and couldn’t help but laugh. “See anything you want to try?”
Edward genuinely couldn’t decide, looking a bit torn. “Honestly, it all looks amazing.”
“Then let’s get a little bit of everything and share,” Arabella suggested, proceeding to order small samples of every snack that caught Edward’s eye..
“That’s a mountain of food! Can we even finish it?” Edward was astonished, looking at the array of paper boats and cones in her
hands.
Arabella laughed, “It’s not that much. There are two of us, and these are just tasting portions.” The idea was to sample widely; a few bites of each would add up.
“If you guys can’t finish, I’m happy to help.” A familiar voice chimed in from beside them. They both turned toward the sound.
“Lucas? What are you doing here?” Arabella was surprised to see him.

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
