Ryan clapped him on the shoulder. “Don’t count them out yet. Let’s see how this plays out.”

“Grandpa, I’m going to say goodbye to Grandma.” Arabella started toward Lena.

“You’re not staying to see what happens?” Ryan asked.

Arabella blinked. “How did you know I was leaving?”

Ryan smiled mysteriously. “Lucky guess.”

“Grandpa.” Arabella gave him a mock glare. “I’m not a kid anymore. Stop teasing me.”

“Thanks, Grandpa.” She smiled warmly, then turned to Robert. “I’ll head out now, Robert.”

Arabella walked toward Lena. Robert watched her go and sighed. “Why aren’t those two getting closer? They seemed to get along before.”

Ryan could only sigh in response. “Those two are sharp. Too sharp for us old men to keep up with.”

“Such a shame. She would’ve been perfect.” Robert shook his head.

“Don’t give up yet.” Ryan tried to reassure him. “If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen.”

Robert glanced at him. “You say that, but you don’t look convinced.”
