“It really is exhausting,” Arabella murmured under her breath. She turned over and shut her eyes, willing herself to fall asleep.

The next day dawned bright and clear.

Arabella came downstairs early to find breakfast already laid out.

Seeing her approach, Florence smiled warmly. “Good morning, Arabella. You’re up early.”

“Morning, Mom. Something smells amazing–what is it?” Arabella asked, returning the smile.

“I made a pot of oatmeal with some healthy mix–ins. We’ll have some now, and I thought I’d take the rest over to your uncle and aunt later,” Florence explained.

“Oh, I’m headed that way anyway–I can drop it off,” Arabella offered.

Florence shook her head gently. “No, honey, you go ahead with your day. I’d like to visit your uncle myself. It’ll be nice to see him.”

“Alright, if you insist,” Arabella conceded.

“Uncle’s doing better, but I suggest him to stay a few more days for observation, just to be safe,” Arabella reminded her.

Florence nodded. “I’ll let him know.”

“Arabella,” Frank said, walking over. “About the hospital contract–any specific requests from your end?”

“No, Frank, you handle it. I trust your judgment,” she replied. She was confident Frank would manage all the contractual details perfectly.

Frank gave a firm nod. “Alright, I’ll take care of it then.”

“Let’s eat,” Ethan chimed in, joining them at the table.

Seeing everyone gathered, Florence added, “Yes, let’s dig in.”

The family chatted casually throughout the meal. Before long, breakfast was finished, and everyone went their separate ways.

Arabella pulled into Horizon Corp building, found a spot, and stepped out of her car.

Just as she shut the door, a Rolls–Royce glided into the space beside hers.

She glanced over and watched as Matthew emerged from the driver’s side.

“Mr. Stewart,” Arabella said, her tone even.

He raised a brow. “You’re here early.”

“I wanted to check on things here first. After this, I’ll head over to my own office,” she explained.

“Anything pressing going on?” Matthew inquired.

Arabella shook her head. “Nothing urgent, but I still need to make an appearance at my company.”

She couldn’t exactly spend the whole day at his headquarters.

Matthew didn’t press further and turned toward the elevator.

Arabella shrugged slightly and followed.

“Hold the elevator, please!” a voice called out. The doors, which had begun to close, slid back open.

To her surprise, it was Naomi who hurried inside.

Arabella and Naomi exchanged a look–the atmosphere suddenly feeling a little charged.

“What are you doing here?” Matthew asked, his eyes narrowing.

Naomi seemed to snap back to attention. “I have a meeting with the business development team,” she said, glancing at Matthew.

Matthew’s frown deepened as he looked toward Andy, who quickly confirmed, “That’s correct.”

Soon, the elevator stopped at the business development floor.

Naomi bit her lip lightly. “Matthew, I’ll go ahead then.”

When Matthew didn’t respond, she simply stepped out.

The doors closed again. Arabella looked thoughtful. “Even if her firm is small, wouldn’t she usually send a representative for a business meeting?”

Maybe Naomi’s company was facing some kind of trouble?

But she hadn’t heard any rumors to that effect, so probably not.

“You seem pretty concerned about her,” Matthew remarked, turning his head to study her.

“Just curious, that’s all,” Arabella replied flatly. It wasn’t concern, one way or another.

A moment later, they arrived at Matthew’s office.

Matthew handed Arabella a folder. “These are the contracts for the bidding project. You’ll be handling everything from here on.”

Arabella flipped through the pages. “Understood.”

“The manufacturing plant will handle production, and the pharmaceutical sales division will follow up on marketing and distribution.”

Matthew gave a satisfied nod. “Good.”

He had figured she already had a plan in mind–she wouldn’t have agreed so readily otherwise.

“Knock, knock, knock.”

After a brief pause, Andy opened the door and entered. “Mr. Stewart, I looked into it.”
