"I'll have to check with my grandfather first," Matthew replied.

As they walked and chatted, Arabella couldn't help but remark, "It's hard to believe we're leaving already. I really didn't get enough of this place."

Ethan offered a reassuring smile. "We'll have plenty of chances to come back."

"Yeah," Arabella said softly, returning the smile.

"Arabella, come hang out with me today." Brielle's cheerful voice came through.

"Can't today," Arabella replied. "I'm actually not in Doranor City right now."

"Really?" Brielle sounded surprised. "Where'd you go?"

"Misty Resort. I'm here with my family," Arabella explained.

"Misty Resort? No way!" Brielle's excitement was palpable. "Hold on, I'll head over right now."

Arabella couldn't help but laugh lightly. "Don't bother—we're actually heading back this afternoon."

"Oh." Brielle's voice dropped a little. "That's too bad."

Had she known Arabella was there, she would've invited herself along in a heartbeat.

"I'll take you another time," Arabella said, hoping to lift her spirits.

"Okay, deal! Let's plan a proper trip out here together soon," Brielle agreed.

"Sure thing. I'll give you a call once I'm back in town." Arabella ended the call.

As she slipped her phone back into her pocket, she instinctively glanced toward Matthew.

To her surprise, he was already looking right at her. Their eyes met.

Arabella offered a slightly awkward smile. "That was Brielle."

"I figured," Matthew said, his tone even.
