Matthew's lips twitched slightly at her words. That came out... kind of weird.
"Um..." Arabella reached up, rubbing her forehead awkwardly. What was she even saying? This was so embarrassing.
"What I meant was, the toxin is completely cleared now. You can relax, Mr. Stewart," she added, trying to sound more professional.
"Mhm." Matthew gave a low hum in response.
Just as she'd said, he did feel a bit drained now—but also deeply, completely relieved.
She left a small bottle of pills on the nightstand, packed up her medical kit, and said, "If that's everything, I should probably head home."
"It's not everything." For some reason, Matthew didn't want her to leave just yet.
Arabella raised a brow. "Is something still bothering you?"
"Well... a little." After a brief pause, he nodded.
"That doesn't add up," she said, reaching to check his pulse again.
Everything felt normal. Nothing seemed off.
"The toxin is gone, I'm sure. I just feel really worn out, and my chest still feels... off. If you don't have other plans, Dr. Hamilton, maybe you could stay a bit longer?" Matthew said.
Arabella thought it over, then nodded. "Alright."
Maybe his body was just exhausted from fighting off the drug's effects. It wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on him a little longer.
Seeing her agree to stay, a faint glint of amusement flickered in Matthew's eyes.
"Try to rest. I'll go check on Andy," Arabella said before stepping out of the room.
"Dr. Hamilton, how is he?" Andy asked, concern etched on his face.
"He's fine. A good night's rest and he'll be back to normal," Arabella reassured him.
Noticing how tired Andy looked, she added, "I'll stay with him tonight. You've been through a lot—why don't you go home and get some sleep? Just come back first thing in the morning."
"Then I'll leave him in your hands, Dr. Hamilton." Andy was visibly relieved.
"Go ahead," she said.
"Okay, I'll be back early." With that, Andy turned and left.
After a night like that, he really needed to decompress.
Arabella returned to Matthew's room to find he'd already fallen asleep.
She pulled a chair over and sat down, watching his sleeping face. Softly, almost to herself, she murmured, "Who would've guessed... you're not just sharp, you're incredibly tough on yourself, too."
As a doctor, she understood the human body well—and she knew very few people could have endured what happened tonight.
Resting her chin in her hand, she kept her eyes on Matthew's face.
"I am kind of curious, though," she whispered. "If she had succeeded... would you really have married her?" A small frown touched her lips.
She knew Matthew didn't have feelings for Naomi—otherwise he wouldn't have fought it so hard.
But still, the pressure from all sides would've been intense...
She couldn't figure out the answer, and slowly, drowsiness began to pull at her.
After all, she'd been woken up in the middle of the night and rushed over here.

The readers' comments on the novel: True Heiress Returns to Her Unemployed Rich Family (Arabella)
This has been going for too long in circles. Reached ch 654 and it's still the same twists no changes at all. Other novels reaches it's climax not beyond ch 300 and it's more captivating. Don't let us readers abandon this....
Update please...
I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
