"Sure thing," Lucas stepped aside and said, "The event's about to kick off. Everyone should head on in."
Brielle gave Lucas a puzzled look. "Hey, Grumpy, what's with the sudden agreeableness today?"
Lucas frowned but kept his mouth shut.
"Come on, I'm talking to you," Brielle persisted. "You think Matthew's a real tough cookie, so you didn't dare talk back to him, right?"
Lucas' face instantly turned sour. He practically roared, "What the heck do I have to be afraid of?"
Brielle paused for a second, then nodded. "See, I knew it. You're scared of him too."
With that, Brielle happily grabbed Arabella's arm. "Arabella, let's go inside."
She wasn't the only one who thought Matthew was intimidating. Even Lucas didn't want to mess with Matthew. So she didn't feel that embarrassed anymore.
Watching Brielle just saunter off like that, Lucas' mouth twitched like crazy. What was going on in that girl's head?
Once Arabella left, Matthew followed suit.
When Lucas snapped out of his daze, he realized the others were already way ahead of him, so he started trailing behind.
He walked at the back, with Matthew's figure right in front of him.
Lucas gritted his teeth silently, his heart filled with a bitter feeling. The fact that Matthew had gotten hurt while saving Arabella felt like a heavy chain around his neck, getting tighter and tighter, slowly choking the life out of him.
"What's up with you?" Brielle's voice came from beside him.
"Huh?" Lucas snapped back to reality, looking totally confused.
Brielle sighed. "You're really out of it today. Are you feeling okay?"
"Nah," Lucas denied.
"But there's definitely something off," Brielle scrunched up her face. "The host has been calling you up there. They've called a bunch of times, and you're just standing here daydreaming."
Lucas finally realized that the host was indeed calling for him.
"You guys go and take your seats. I'll go see what's going on," Lucas said, looking away a bit nervously, then quickly made his way towards the host.
"Arabella, don't you think Lucas is acting kind of weird?" Brielle whispered to Arabella.
"He does look a bit pale," Arabella frowned and thought for a moment. "Maybe he's been burning the midnight oil getting everything ready for the anniversary."
"Ah, that makes sense." Brielle didn't question it. "So after today, once he goes home and catches some Z's, he should be good as new."
"Probably," Arabella said. "I'll check on him later."
Brielle smiled and nodded. "Great. Thanks, Arabella."

The readers' comments on the novel: True Heiress Returns to Her Unemployed Rich Family (Arabella)
This has been going for too long in circles. Reached ch 654 and it's still the same twists no changes at all. Other novels reaches it's climax not beyond ch 300 and it's more captivating. Don't let us readers abandon this....
Update please...
I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
