Matthew instructed, “Find out who that man Arabella was supporting is.”
“Yes, Mr. Stewart.”
Matthew then strode toward the door.

Without discussing it further with Edward, Arabella arranged for him to be admitted. In his current state, he needed proper medical care and rest. With the Macdonald household in turmoil, the hospital would offer a much calmer environment for his recovery.
“Arabella, why did you have me admitted? It’s really not necessary. I was just a little worked up earlier. I’ll be fine after resting at home,” Edward said, reluctant to impose on her.
“You’ll recover better here. Macdonald Villa isn’t a restful place right now. Please just listen to me and stay put. Otherwise, I’ll really be upset,” Arabella replied, giving him a look of mock
sternness.
“But this must be expensive,” Edward asked, his voice laced with concern.
Given the family’s situation and the fact Freya had drained his personal accounts, he only had a modest sum left from earlier savings. He didn’t want to spend it on a hospital stay— he’d rather use it to help the family.
“Don’t worry about the cost. It’s already taken care of,” Arabella assured him.
“Where did the money come from? It must be from your new parents. Once I feel a bit better, just take me home,” he insisted. He couldn’t let Arabella spend more on him.
Even though Arabella clearly had a better life now, it was thanks to her parents. How could he let her spend their money on someone like him Besides, he didn’t want to use her funds at all.
“Don’t overthink it. I earned this money myself. Right now, you’re the patient, and to listen to me. Understood?” Arabella said firmly.

Hearing that Arabella was earning her own money now, Edward looked at her with surprise. “You’ve only just started your placement. How much could you be making? It probably doesn’t even cover your spending money.”
“Don’t underestimate me. I’m not just a trainee anymore. If you knew who I’ve been treating, you’d be pretty surprised,” Arabella said offhandedly.
“Treating people? Why not just say you’re a doctor?” Edward said, looking at her skeptically.

Only then did Arabella realize her slip. She quickly changed the subject. “Anyway, just rest easy here. I’ve already settled the admission. You wouldn’t ask me to go get a refund, would you?”
“Did you pay a lot?” Edward asked, his expression turning serious.
“Yes,” Arabella lied with a nod.
“Sigh, why would you…” Edward stopped himself. She was doing all this for him, and it would be ungrateful to scold her for it.
“Alright, I’ll stay for a few days,” Edward conceded reluctantly.
It seemed he had no choice but to go along with her plan.
A faint smile touched Arabella’s lips. “Rest here for now. I’ll step out for a moment.”
“Okay.”
Arabella left Edward’s room and walked into the hallway. Just then, Owen approached her.
“Dr. Macdonald, you wanted to speak with me?”
“My brother will be staying here to recuperate for a while. But he doesn’t know I’m a physician. I’d like you to act as his attending doctor,” Arabella explained briefly.
Owen caught on immediately. “No problem at all.”
After all, it was Arabella who had saved Robert. He owed her a significant debt–if not for her, he wouldn’t have just lost his position; he might have faced serious consequences from Matthew.
He was genuinely grateful to her.
“Thank you. I’ll outline the treatment plan. Please follow it closely when caring for my brother. And be more careful this time,” Arabella said, her tone leaving no room for error.
“Don’t worry. I won’t take any liberties again,” Owen said earnestly.
The incident with Robert still weighed heavily on him.
“Good. Come in with me,” Arabella said, leading Owen back into Edward’s room.
Seeing Arabella return with a doctor, Edward grew concerned that his condition was serious. His smile faded. “Arabella, why is the doctor here?”
“There’s no need to be nervous. This is Owen, a friend of mine. I asked him to look after you
