"Are you all celebrating?" Chen Bolin approached, huffing coldly.
"Oh? Chen Ergou, what are you doing here?" Li Bo Kai asked coldly.
"What am I doing here? I seem to have underestimated you all." Chen Bolin glanced at Luofeng. "Tell me, where did Zhou Xiaofeng go?"
"Why do you think we would know?" Luofeng retorted.
"What’s with the act?" Chen Bolin said, giving Luofeng a cold look.
"A couple of drinks?" Luofeng asked, gesturing invitingly without directly answering.
After a moment’s thought, Chen Bolin sat opposite Luofeng and poured himself a drink. "Cheers?"
"Yes, cheers!"
Luofeng clinked glasses with him, and both men downed their drinks in one gulp.
Chen Boli was the first to speak. "You’ve made a move on the Wu Family, right?"
"That’s correct!"
"Good!" Chen Bolin poured himself another drink. "Another toast?"
"No problem!"
After another drink, Chen Bolin continued, "You’ve taken control of Zhou Xiaofeng?"
"That’s also correct." Luofeng nodded.
The two men had a strange rapport. Chen Bolin would drink, and Luofeng would answer a question.
Chen Boli poured Luofeng a drink and refilled his own glass. "Was it all an act from the start? Deliberately stalling for time to directly take possession of the gold mine rights?"
"Exactly!"
"Impressive!"
"You flatter me." Luofeng smiled. "After all, you schemed against me before. Even though it was Wu Yufan’s doing, did you think I would forget?"
"A self-imposed penalty of three drinks? Let bygones be bygones with a laugh?" Chen Bolin probed.
"What do you guess?" Luofeng challenged.
"If we hadn’t been enemies initially, could we have become friends?"
Luofeng chuckled before finally saying, "Possibly. I enjoy making friends. Your issues with them are your own business."
"Aren’t you worried they’ll get the wrong idea?"
"Many things are best dealt with openly," Luofeng responded. "That’s why you’ve put yourself at a disadvantage again."
"What a pity."
"No pity is needed," Luofeng said. "There’s only the inevitable outcome. Even if you were given another chance, the result would be the same. You could never truly consider me a friend!"
Chen Bolin thought for a moment and laughed. "Is there still a chance for our family regarding the gold mine?"
Li Bo Kai couldn’t hold back any longer. "Chen Ergou, aren’t you shameless?"
Lin Xiaoyun mocked, "We’ve already kicked the Wu Family out of the game, and Zhou Xiaofeng, the sole heir of the Zhou Family, has chosen us. Can’t you find this information out?"
Chen Ergou fell silent.
Chen Dali sighed. "Chen Bolin, you should leave. From beginning to end, you were the one who made mistakes in this matter."
Chen Bolin took a deep breath. "Luofeng, just one question."
"Ask."
"Haven’t you considered that I, too, could break the rules?" Chen Bolin laughed sardonically.
"Chen Bolin!" Chen Dali stood up.
"Chen Ergou, what do you mean by that?"
"Are you drunk?"
Lin Xiaoyun and Li Bo Kai also stood up.
His danger premonition showed no reaction, meaning there was no threat.
Luofeng let that question hang in the air. He should understand. The reasons for downfall are always the same, yet no one ever learns the lesson.
Perhaps his visit today was an attempt at reconciliation, but without wanting to lose face? Was Luofeng supposed to indulge him? Did he still want a piece of the gold mine? What was he thinking earlier? Luofeng had initially proposed an equal split among the families, but Chen Bolin himself had refused.
She then sent a message: "When will you be back?"
In the bar, Luofeng saw the message. "Be right there."
"Okay, I’ll go take a shower and wait for you then!"
This long-legged beauty.
"Deal!" Luofeng immediately replied.
After replying, Luofeng stood up. "Brothers, Miss Ferrari messaged me, so I’ll head out first."
Lin Xiaoyun rolled her eyes. "My condolences to you!"
"Get lost!" Luofeng retorted playfully. "This round is on me; I’ll send the bill to the group chat."
"Forget it, I’ll pay. You hurry back and take good care of Miss Ferrari; don’t let her get lonely and stray," Chen Dali laughed. He usually wouldn’t joke like this unless he’d been drinking.
"Hahaha, how could she?" Luofeng laughed. Her, stray? They’re underestimating me. Ever heard of double talent?
"Go on then, I’ll cover the bill today!" Lin Xiaoyun said generously.
"You should worry about your own problems," Li Bo Kai said with a chuckle, looking at his phone.
"What’s going on?" Lin Xiaoyun asked curiously.
"Su Xiaohu says you two are dating. She wants to ’buy buy buy,’ but you wouldn’t agree. Then you set a limit on her bank card, and now she’s claiming you’re afraid of being called a Scum Man because you won’t publicly acknowledge your relationship with her," Chen Dali chimed in, taking over for Li Bo Kai.
"..." Lin Xiaoyun was utterly speechless.
Was it just about limiting the bank card to 1,000? That Su Xiaohu... she’s too much, isn’t she?
"Hahaha, Lin Xiaoyun, I’m the one who should offer you condolences! Bye!"
Laughing, Luofeng waved and left the bar.
As arranged by Zhang Shunyong, Luofeng was escorted back to Cloud View International.
