’She would have definitely given herself to him without a second thought.’
Unfortunately, she was too busy with work-study programs in college to even think about dating.
Her difficult family circumstances made her keenly aware of money’s importance.
Ding Wei never denied that she was a gold-digger.
’Then again, who isn’t?’
It was because of her excellent grades in school that she caught the eye of that old man.
He chose her from a crowd of competitors to become his secretary—the chairman’s secretary.
The rest of the story doesn’t need much elaboration.
When the old man handed her a million-yuan check and told her to spend it however she liked...
...Ding Wei came to a realization: it didn’t matter who she slept with.
At the very least, the old man was generous.
Guys her own age would try to find the best deal just to get a hotel room.
"What are you thinking about?"
Qi Sheng saw Ding Wei spacing out and patted her shoulder with a smile.
"Nothing. Are we here already?"
Ding Wei shook her head, not planning to talk about any of that.
Having a favorable impression of Qi Sheng didn’t mean she had actually fallen in love with him so quickly.
Her motive for getting close to Qi Sheng was simple: she just wanted to follow his lead and make a little money.
"Yeah, let’s get out."
Qi Sheng led Ding Wei into an old, established Cantonese tea restaurant.
"Welcome. This way, please, you two."
Qi Sheng ordered a few dishes that looked interesting, then looked at Ding Wei.
"Do you want to add anything?"
"What you ordered is enough for both of us. I’m not that hungry. I ate what the housekeeper made before I left."
Ding Wei quickly waved her hands. Just because they had money didn’t mean they should be wasteful.
"Sorry, what I just ordered was my own portion."
Qi Sheng shrugged. "But if you don’t have an appetite, then never mind."
"Uh, in that case, I’ll just have the beef rice noodle rolls."
Ding Wei’s expression was a little odd, but looking at how tall and well-built Qi Sheng was, a big appetite was understandable.
’Speaking of which, Qi Sheng really did have the vibe of a sunny, popular jock from a college basketball team.’
She remembered her old roommate, who had dated a student athlete from the basketball team.
The roommate had often bragged to them, in exaggerated detail, about how amazing he was in *that* department.
Ding Wei felt a flicker of curiosity.
’Qi Sheng was so tall and built... surely he wasn’t all for show, was he?’
It was a good thing Qi Sheng couldn’t read minds.
Otherwise, he would have dragged Ding Wei into the back of the Cullinan and shown her what a real man was made of.
When the dishes arrived, Qi Sheng was indeed hungry.
After ’tunneling’ his ass off until dawn yesterday, it would have been strange if he wasn’t hungry.
"Slow down. If it’s not enough, we can order more."
Seeing Qi Sheng eat with such relish stirred her own appetite, and she quickly finished her beef rice noodle rolls.
"A casual bite is enough for the morning. We’ll see about lunch later."
Qi Sheng wiped his mouth, quite satisfied with the breakfast.
"Your ’casual bite’ is quite a lot."
Ding Wei’s mouth twitched. She estimated this dim sum breakfast had to cost at least 2,000 yuan.
Even though the average cost per person at this place was just a little over 100 yuan.
