Under the Veil I Rule (Amara) novel Chapter 950

"By the way, you really need to watch your back for the next few days," he added, turning serious.

"That attack was targeted specifically at you. Someone is actively trying to take you out."

"Keep your head on a swivel whenever you leave the house. Do not go out alone. Honestly, maybe I should just hire you a security detail."

Amara shook her head. "If I need muscle, I'll hire them myself. Stop worrying about me."

She checked the time and stood up. "I should go. I'll be incredibly careful, I promise."

"Your parents are definitely still hovering in the hallway. They're terrified. Please try to be nice to them when they come back in."

Keith didn't argue.

He genuinely loved Edith and Nathan, but their relentless attempts to force him out of the entertainment industry over the years meant they constantly lived on the edge of an explosive argument.

Given the massive scare he'd put them through today, he fully intended to play the role of the comforting, obedient son.

He gave her a reassuring nod, silently promising to handle them, and Amara finally slipped out of the room.

As she walked out of Wye General Hospital, her mind was a whirlwind. She wasn't just thinking about Keith; Finnian's unexpected presence was weighing heavily on her.

She stepped into the cool air, and sure enough, Finnian's sleek car was still idling near the entrance.

He was leaning casually against the door frame. Seeing her approach, he straightened up and closed the distance between them. "You're done. Let me take you home."

She was privately relieved she hadn't stayed too long in the hospital room.

Had she lingered any longer, his simmering anxiety likely would have gotten the better of him, and he would have stormed right back in to drag her out.
