Unknown Divorce Revelation Beyond Time (Charlene and Thorne) novel Chapter 600

Even though she wasn't there, Vesta could easily guess what her family was thinking.

She started the car, but as she was about to pull away, her eyes fell on the gift boxes on the passenger seat. She paused.

Even without a proposal, she was still curious about what Thorne had given her.

She picked up his gift and opened it. Inside was a diamond necklace of impressive quality, likely worth millions. For a birthday present, even from someone of Thorne's status, it was certainly a generous gift. But—

Compared to the exceptionally extravagant and creative gifts he'd given her in the past, this necklace seemed to lack a certain weight. Still, remembering his determination to divorce Charlene, she didn't dwell on the less-than-stellar present.

Setting the box aside, her gaze landed on Granger's gift. She hesitated for a moment before opening it as well.

It was a bottle of expensive red wine. A suitable gift for a female friend, certainly, but a far cry from the thoughtful presents he used to give her. It felt impersonal. Vesta wasn't surprised. With a cynical smile, she closed the box and drove home.

Everyone was waiting for her news.

As soon as she walked in, Leah rushed over, her excitement palpable. "Vesta, how was it? Is the diamond beautiful? Show it to us—"

"There was no proposal," Vesta stated flatly.

"No… no proposal?"

Leah's excited expression froze, as did the smiles on everyone else's faces.

Georgina was the first to recover. "Vesta, what… did something happen?"

Everyone else immediately assumed she and Thorne had argued.

The rest of the family was curious too, though they wouldn't have asked so bluntly.

"Go ahead," Vesta said dismissively, heading upstairs.

They eagerly opened the gifts, but their expressions soon turned to disappointment. Thorne had always been so incredibly generous in the past.

Rhoda was the first to rationalize. "These gifts are still very valuable. Besides, Vesta is going out with Thorne again later tonight."

"Exactly," Leah chimed in, agreeing.

Maureen and Georgina weren't as concerned. To them, the strength of Vesta and Thorne's relationship meant that even if his gift was less extravagant than usual, it was still filled with his affection. As long as they were happy together, nothing else mattered.
