Julian Beckett didn't deserve Elara's love.
Sebastian Vance had thought this more than once.
Meeting Elara's calm, composed gaze, he couldn't bring himself to say it.
He hated cheaters.
He especially despised Julian for betraying Elara.
But Elara still loved Julian.
Being cheated on, betrayed by the man she loved, and hurt—she was already in enough pain.
He didn't want to see her suffer more because of his words.
Sebastian blinked, burying his displeasure and gloom.
His mood shifted rapidly; he wore his unhappiness on his sleeve but could conceal it just as quickly, so fast that no one could catch the change.
Elara was a bit taken aback but didn't show it, casually asking, "Is there anything else?"
Sebastian blinked again, acting as if nothing had happened. He stood up straight, shoved his hands into his pockets, and swept his gaze over the crowd of parents.
"Oh, no."
"..."
Elara didn't reply. She just watched him quietly with an expression that said, You think I believe that?
Sebastian rubbed his nose to cover his awkwardness and cleared his throat. "Ahem, I mainly wanted to see if you needed any help."
Pausing, he stubbornly added, "Anything at all, as long as it's within my power."
"Is that so..."
Elara pretended not to hear the last part. She thought for a moment and glanced at Melody, who was taking photos with her little friends. "Then could you help me record some videos of Melody and the others?"
He simply pulled out his phone and walked over to Melody and her friends without a word.
He chose a spot where he could get all the kids in the frame, opened the camera app, and held up his phone.
Elara stared in surprise, then shook her head with a smile and went back to helping.
He was just like before—all bark and no bite. He'd complain about not wanting to do something while already doing it.
Who was the malicious jerk spreading rumors in their circle that he was ruthless, cold-blooded, and only cared about money?
Sebastian was clearly an outstanding young man with a kind heart!
Just as the buffet dinner was served, Sarah Norwood and Maddox Beckett arrived with Meredith right behind them.
Sarah had been busy with work and hadn't seen her goddaughter in a while. Combined with the frustration of being stuck in traffic for over an hour, she immediately pulled Melody into a tight hug and smothered her in kisses.
Melody adored Sarah and didn't mind the affectionate assault, but the other kids were terrified, staring at her in stunned silence.
