Elara had clearly chosen to forgive Julian's infidelity and focus on her family. Sebastian wasn't trying to wreck her home anymore, but he was still furious, so he decided to sabotage Julian's corporate scheme just to blow off steam?

Wasn't that just a convoluted way of punishing Julian for cheating?

Since he couldn't push Elara to get a divorce, he was just going to nuke Julian directly?

Since when did Sebastian moonlight as a corporate hitman on top of being a CEO?

Did he absolutely have to ruin Julian's life?

Finnian fried his brain trying to figure it out, but he still couldn't grasp his boss's true motives.

"Boss."

Giving up on the mental gymnastics, Finnian asked point-blank, "What exactly is the end game here?"

Sebastian stared at him like he was an absolute idiot, his eyes practically screaming: *I literally just gave you the instructions. Why are you still talking?*

"..."

Finnian rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "If I had to guess, when you sent those files to Ms. Sterling, you felt it was a private domestic issue. You gave her the tools, but let her make the final call, right?"

Sebastian just looked at him in total silence.

Finnian pushed his luck. "If that's the case, why are you suddenly interfering personally?"

Sebastian leaned back in his leather chair with a lazy elegance, his voice dropping to a freezing command. "When I tell you to do something, you do it."

Finnian: "..."

Message received: *No further explanation will be provided.*

Finnian quickly shoved the papers back into the envelope. "Right then. I'll head over there immediately. Hopefully, I make it before they close."

Sebastian nodded. "Once you're done, you can clock out for the day. No need to come back to the office."

"Sounds good. Thanks, boss."

Elara hitched a ride with Nate to the Department of Business Oversight and successfully filed her fraud report.

For whatever reason, Nate had been subtly probing into her personal life over coffee that afternoon.

Elara had no desire to share the messy details of her marriage, smoothly dodging his questions with vague answers.

Nate tactfully dropped the subject, but right before they parted ways, he repeatedly emphasized that she should call him if she ever needed anything.

By the time she finished, it was almost time for Melody's school to let out. Elara took a cab straight to the preschool, picked her up, and headed home to start dinner.

It was the very first time Melody hadn't immediately asked when Julian was coming home after school.

After the fallout yesterday, Julian's absence had become an unspoken, accepted reality between mother and daughter. There was simply no need to bring him up.

Yet, completely against their expectations, Julian walked through the front door right on time after work.

And he brought the finalized equity transfer contract with him.
