After witnessing her ignore the evidence of Julian's infidelity and the clues about the shell company, enduring the drama at Melody's birthday, and now seeing Elara act sweet to Julian while worrying about his corporate crisis, Sebastian Vance finally accepted the harsh reality.
He had accepted the reality that Elara was not going to get a divorce anytime soon.
He wouldn't demand anything of her. Telling her all this was merely to give her a clear picture of Julian, Ark Solutions, and the Beckett family's current situation so she could brace herself.
Elara didn't know Sebastian's true intentions. She was deeply grateful for the information he was sharing, but she couldn't let it show on her face.
She poured herself a cup of tea, taking small sips while keeping up the appearance of a polite, attentive listener.
Sebastian glanced at her and downed the rest of his tea in one gulp. "They're all going to be incredibly busy for a while."
Elara sipped her tea and nodded.
After a moment of thought, she felt she needed to express some gratitude for his kindness. "Thank you for telling me all this."
Sebastian's lips parted. He was about to say something, but before he could, the server knocked and entered, delivering the freshly packed takeout of light dishes.
Once the server left, Sebastian stood up and grabbed the takeout bags. "Let's go."
Elara grabbed her own packed leftovers and stood up to follow him. "Alright."
Exiting the private room, Elara headed straight for the register to pay, only to be told by the hostess that the bill had already been settled.
Elara glanced at Sebastian beside her, then turned back to the cashier. "We added two more dishes at the end."
"Huh."
The cashier instinctively looked at Sebastian. She remembered the handsome guy who had come up to pay earlier and knew exactly which private room they were in. Prompted by Elara, she checked the system and realized two dishes had indeed been added after the initial payment.
"My apologies, that was an oversight on my part."
The cashier quickly printed the new receipt. "That's seventy-two dollars, but I'll round it down to seventy for you."
Elara scanned her phone and paid the tab.
Sebastian watched her quietly, making no move to fight her for the check.
