Vivian was still a bit dazed. It wasn't until Julian had gotten out of bed a few moments later that she finally realized he hadn't mentioned anything about going back to the manor before they went to sleep last night.

Why the sudden decision to have breakfast with Maddox?

Connecting this with the heavy bags under his eyes from an obvious lack of sleep, Vivian felt uneasy. She slipped out of bed, padded softly over to him, and wrapped her arms around him from behind, pressing herself against his back.

Julian stiffened for a second before his tense body slowly relaxed. He placed his hand over hers and patted it gently.

Seizing the opening, Vivian asked, "Did something happen?"

Julian couldn't possibly tell her he was stressing over Elara, so he awkwardly shifted the topic. "A lot has been going on lately, and it's been too long since I had a proper meal with Maddox. Work is a bit light right now, so I figured I'd go spend some time with him."

He was never the type to voluntarily spend time with older relatives.

Vivian rested the side of her face against his back, her eyes clear and sharp, but she chose not to expose his obvious lie.

"Is that so?"

She nuzzled against his back and said submissively, "Then you really should go spend some quality time with him."

"Yeah."

Julian gently detached her hands, turned around, and pulled her petite frame into his arms. "I'm sorry I can't have breakfast with you today."

Vivian shook her head understandingly.

"If you're still tired, go back to sleep. I'll be back as soon as I can to take you to brunch."

"Okay."

Vivian chuckled, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him down to initiate a kiss. "I'll wait for you, then."

They kissed passionately for a moment before Julian pulled away. "Alright, wait for me."
