Treat her bad dad like a piece of trash, throw him in the dumpster, and never let him ruin her mood or her life again...

It sounded a little weird, but Melody somehow felt her mother was making total sense.

Tilting her head, she considered it very seriously before asking, "But what if Daddy tries to come find us?"

They could throw him away all they wanted, but that wouldn't stop him from showing up uninvited.

Just like that time at the park, when he had tracked them down out of nowhere.

"Can I just ignore him?" Melody asked for clarification.

She had ignored him at the park, and that seemed to have worked out pretty well.

"Absolutely."

Elara fully supported her. "You can do whatever you want."

Melody's eyes lit up, though the spark faded almost as quickly as it had appeared.

Wiping the remaining tears from her daughter's cheeks, Elara asked gently, "Is there anything else you're confused about?"

Melody nodded, stealing a timid glance at her mother before dropping her gaze, remaining silent.

"It's okay. Tell me whatever is on your mind. I want to know exactly what you're thinking," Elara encouraged.

Staring at her mother for a long time, Melody finally summoned her courage. "What about you, Mommy? Will you wake up one day and stop loving me, just like Daddy did?"

Elara froze. She hadn't expected a question like that, but in the next second, she realized it made perfect sense. In fact, she was incredibly relieved that Melody had found the courage to ask it.

Melody had always been sensitive and incredibly slow to trust or rely on anyone. To a four-year-old, her parents were her entire universe.

Out of nowhere, her father had decided he didn't love her anymore and tossed her aside. It was the equivalent of half her sky collapsing.
