Elara's expression was dead serious, her tone icy. It was obvious she was genuinely angry.

Sebastian stared at her blankly, completely failing to grasp why she was so upset.

Or rather, he simply couldn't believe it.

He just kept his eyes locked on Elara, silently pleading for her to explain it to him.

Elara, however, completely ignored his silent plea. Having said her piece, she stood up.

Sebastian tilted his head up, watching as she set her glass down and walked toward him. A sudden wave of nervousness crashed over him.

"Stop degrading yourself."

Elara stopped right in front of him. After a moment's hesitation, she placed her hand on his shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze—half-comfort, half-encouragement. "You shouldn't talk about yourself like that."

How could The Golden Boy—someone with flawless looks, an elite background, brilliant intellect, and absolute capability—reduce himself to something so cheap?

"I'm not..."

Sebastian wanted to argue that no one was born meant for anything, and that he was simply following his heart, but Elara didn't give him the chance.

"Alright."

Elara withdrew her hand and stepped past him, heading toward the door. "Dinner's over. I should get going."

Sebastian watched her go.

"I'll walk you out."

He scrambled to his feet and hurried after her.

Elara paused mid-step, turning slightly to shoot him a half-smile. "Did our agreement include a complimentary ride home?"

Sebastian blinked, then quickly recovered with a grin. "Then I'll just walk you to the door?"

Elara gave him a long, measuring look before turning back and continuing toward the exit without another word.

Sebastian took large strides, quickly catching up to walk by her side.
