Julian hesitated, his fork hovering over his plate. His predatory gaze was glued to Elara's face, burning with enough resentment to carve his dissatisfaction directly into her skin.

No matter how furious he was, Elara remained entirely unfazed, quietly enjoying her breakfast with their daughter.

After finishing her Tomato and Meat Sauce Pasta, Melody munched on some fruit, downed her milk, and slipped out of her chair right behind Elara.

Before leaving the dining room, she didn't forget to wave at Julian. "Take your time eating, Dad. Mom and I are going to go do my hair."

Julian gave a faint hum of acknowledgment, practically inhaling the rest of his food before leaving the dining room himself.

While he had been eating, Vivian had sent him a barrage of texts.

Having been thoroughly scolded by Melody about table manners, Julian genuinely hadn't touched his phone during the meal.

It wasn't until he finished that he finally had a moment to check his messages, replying to Vivian to explain his delayed response.

Vivian was also having breakfast. Upon receiving his text, she snapped a few photos and fired them off to him.

Julian tapped through each one, then typed out a reminder for her to eat more so her knee could heal faster.

Vivian playfully refused. She insisted she was on a diet, determined to maintain her stunning curves, and absolutely nothing—not even an injury—would shake her resolve.

Left with no other option, Julian could only coax her gently, urging her to eat as much as she could stomach.

Thoroughly appeased by his sweet-talking, Vivian agreed to eat one extra piece of bacon and a slice of bread.

To prove it, she sent him a picture of the half-eaten bacon and bread.

Satisfied, Julian praised her.

He continued texting as he walked upstairs to change his clothes.

By the time he came back down, Elara had already finished doing Melody's hair and they were dressed to head out.

Everyone close to him knew his habits. They rarely contacted him during meal times, and he almost never texted while eating with others.

He had lived that way for years. How had he suddenly regressed into acting like a hormone-crazed teenager?

"Good job, Mom. I love my awesome Mom."

Melody was highly satisfied with Elara's compliance, giving her a big thumbs up.

"And I love my smart, responsible baby girl more than life itself."

Melody's eyes curved into bright crescents. She tugged on Elara's hand, gesturing for her to lean down, and planted a loud, wet kiss on her cheek.

"Thank you, Mom, I'm so happy! I'm going to take my Mom's love to school and have the best day ever!"

No mother could possibly resist such genuine, sweet words from her precious daughter.
