[Do you need Vivian-brand mouth-to-mouth resuscitation?]
Julian let out a low chuckle. [Tragic that you aren't at the office.]
[I really want to kiss you.]
He didn't just want to kiss her; he wanted to take her right then and there.
As soon as the message sent, Julian surprised himself.
Was it because they had spent practically every single waking moment together lately?
They had only been apart for one night, yet he missed her this intensely.
Just a few lines of teasing, and his body was already burning with heat...
Knock, knock—
The sudden rap at the door shattered Julian's fantasies.
He snapped back to reality, his eyes—still heavy and predatory with lingering lust—darting sharply toward the entrance.
Before he could even speak, the door pushed open.
"Julian."
Elara walked in, closing the door naturally behind her. "I heard from the secretary that you wrapped up. I'm not interrupting anything, am I?"
Julian scowled. She had been hanging around the office all morning, watching him jump from meetings to giving directives to his managers. She obviously knew exactly how busy he was.
Furthermore, her showing up unannounced was an interruption in and of itself. Playing coy and asking if she was bothering him now was beyond hypocritical.
"I still have a mountain of work to get through," Julian said, his face a mask of cold professionalism. He swiftly swiped out of WeChat, tossed his phone aside, and pulled a file over, pretending to read.
Realizing his tone might have been a bit too hostile, he paused, looking up at Elara to soften the blow. "This might take a while longer. Mind waiting for me?"
Elara's features were striking and elegant, framed by a soft, subtle dimple on her right cheek that naturally gave her an aura of gentle warmth. But the second she dropped that warmth, her icy, dead-eyed stare radiated a suffocating dominance—like a judge presiding over a courtroom, ready to hand down a sentence.
She wasn't trying to debate who was right or wrong. She was reading him his verdict, with absolutely no chance for an appeal.
Elara glared coldly at him, her glacial gaze slowly dragging sideways to lock onto the phone he had just shoved away. After a few agonizing seconds, she spoke, her voice laced with lethal implications. "Or maybe what I'm interrupting isn't your work at all. Maybe it's someone else."
The second she had walked through that door, she saw everything with crystalline clarity. Julian hadn't been working. He had been staring at his screen with a look of pure, hungry obsession.
It was the exact face he made when he was turned on.
She had interrupted his dirty little fantasy, and so he took his frustration out on her.
And there was only one person on earth right now who could make Julian lose his mind like that.
Vivian.
