"Huh?"

Julian paused. "Why are we blowing up balloons?"

"To decorate for the birthday party."

"Can't we just buy pre-made ones? Or hire a professional studio to set it up?"

"I hired a studio for the design, but Melody wanted to be involved, so we're doing the prep work at home ourselves."

Since it was her daughter's first birthday party and she had specifically asked for it, Elara naturally supported her unconditionally.

As Elara spoke, the look in her eyes turned cold again. "I remember mentioning this to you a month ago. I even asked you which design was better. You don't remember?"

Julian did vaguely recall something like that. He had clicked through a few pictures Elara sent, skimmed them, and casually picked one.

But a month had passed, so much had happened, and he genuinely had no memory of which design they ultimately chose or how it was supposed to be executed.

"I've forgotten some of the details."

Julian lied without changing his expression. "I'll help out tomorrow, too."

"Of course you will."

Elara stated it as a given. "You'll be home all day. Did you really think you could just sit back and watch?"

"Depends on whether Melody lets me."

Julian raised his hands in surrender. "I wouldn't dare."

With that, he stood up. "You go ahead and sleep. I'm going to check on Melody in her room."

Elara cautioned him, "You promised her you'd be home early this afternoon, and she was so happy. She played games with the nanny for a long time and is pretty exhausted. Keep it down so you don't wake her."

"Alright."

Julian turned and left the bedroom.

Furthermore, this tied directly into her future divorce proceedings with Julian. Leaving any loopholes meant handing Julian leverage. If her plan fell through, Julian would weaponize it against her, and she really would walk away with nothing.

Sarah: [Of course. If the two of us team up and still leave flaws for Julian to exploit, we might as well quit being lawyers.]

They were both attorneys. They understood the rules and had the patience required. No matter how furious or anxious they were, they would meticulously nail down every detail and wait for the perfect moment.

Sarah added: [I'll tell the investigators to speed things up. Just hold on a little longer.]

[If you really can't take it anymore, go find Julian and his little mistress and vent some of that anger.]

[Aren't they acting invincible and flaunting their romance at the office every day? Let's help them get a little more famous.]

Elara smiled: [Good idea.]

Sarah: [You're not going to try?]

Elara: [You'll see when the time comes. [Smirk Emoji]]
