When Mu Qingge awoke, the reassuring presence beside her was long gone, and even the silhouette of Gu Ya was nowhere to be seen. It was as if everything she had felt before her coma had been nothing but a dream.
Looking around the unfamiliar room, Mu Qingge only felt as if her bones were all disjointed and aching.
Suddenly, the door swung open.
Qin Yiyao walked in carrying a bowl of water.
Seeing that Mu Qingge was awake, she quickened her steps with excitement: "Qingge, you’re awake?"
Mu Qingge propped herself up on the bed with one hand, took the bowl from her hand, and drank deeply. Only after drinking the last drop did she feel truly alive again.
"How did I get back? How long have I been asleep? How is the Mu Family Army?" After drinking, Mu Qingge asked the questions she was most concerned about.
Qin Yiyao replied, "It was an official by the side of the Holy King who brought you back, and you’ve only slept for one night. As for the Mu Family Army, the beast tide has receded, and Old Lord Mu is currently resting the troops."
Fortunately, it was only one night.
Mu Qingge heaved a sigh of relief in her heart.
However, knowing that it was Gu Ya who brought her back, and not the familiar white figure in her memory, an unfamiliar and uncomfortable feeling arose in her heart.
Putting on her shoes, Mu Qingge asked, "Where is Grandfather?"
"Old Lord is with the army." Qin Yiyao arranged her clothes, tender as a little wife.
Mu Qingge lowered her eyes, watching Qin Yiyao’s actions, her eyes flickered, and she said nothing as she walked out.
Qin Yiyao, suspecting nothing, followed her out.
Once outside, Mu Qingge saw the soldiers of the Mu Family Army. Each face was still smudged with blood, but upon seeing her, they looked at her with eyes full of admiration, respectfully calling, "Young Lord!"
Mu Qingge found it a bit strange but didn’t think much of it and went directly to find Mu Xiong.
"How did they die?" Mu Xiong picked up the Command Arrow, stroking it gently in his hand.
Mu Qingge spoke her judgment: "Ambushed by skilled fighters, died fighting bravely."
Mu Xiong closed his eyes, enveloped in immense sorrow, and after a long while, he said, "Good, good, good! As expected of the fine sons and daughters of the Mu Family Army!"
"Old General, what do we do!" a deputy asked, filled with grief.
Mu Xiong opened his eyes, and his tiger-like gaze sparkled.
This time, it was clear someone aimed to use the beast tide to bring about his doom, to destroy the Mu Family Army!
"What to do? Isn’t there food right in front of you?" Mu Qingge’s cold voice sounded, startling everyone.
Mu Xiong looked at her as if waiting for her next words.
