Sonia just woke up. It was not a weekend, so Dixon was busy as usual. Normally, he would take time to spend with her. But now, because the New Year was approaching, the company had to settle a lot of bills. So, Dixon came less often these days.
So, this afternoon, Sonia took a nap. As soon as she opened her eyes, there was a figure climbing the wall from outside. The figure brushed open the window of Sonia's ward and leaped into the high-rise building like a cold shadow. After a nice landing, he slowly stood up.
He still had no expression on his face.
Sonia was stunned. Looking at Carl climbing like that, she was simply shocked. So, there were people who really practiced extreme sports and Parkour. She looked at Carl, "Are you okay?"
Carl answered indifferently, "No."
He suddenly barged into her ward. Sonia didn't know what to do with him. She smiled awkwardly, "Why are you... Why are you looking for me?"
Carl was sensitive to Sonia's change.
Obviously, her current smile was a forced one.
What had the slender woman experienced during the time he was away?
Carl sat down on the side, "I'm here to see you."
His voice was as aloof as usual. But after taking off his glasses, Carl looked really aloof.
Perhaps the lenses had previously hidden Carl's sharp eyes. Moreover, Carl with the glasses looked similar to Eaton Donald.
Now he took off his glasses, his cold air was very different from Eaton Donald.
Sonia pressed her temples. And then she sighed with relief, "Thank you for coming to see me."
But he could take the front door. Why did he have to climb the wall to get in? It was so dangerous. What if he missed one step...
Carl seemed to see through Sonia's thoughts. He stood up and approached Sonia's bed. He leaned down to look at her.
Looking at her, Carl said in a flat voice, "Because there are Dixon's men guarding downstairs."
Dixon must have seriously warned them about several blacklisted people. Like Quincy Sue, Carl Miller, and Matthew Frank, none of them would be let in.
So, Carl chose to climb the wall. Anyway, he has good skills. He was good enough to jump out of a window.
"Sorry for the trouble..." Sonia had to smile at him. Her estranged look made Carl frown slightly.
The woman in front of him was not the same as the times he had seen before.
He reached out to touch Sonia's face. But he stopped halfway. And then he withdrew his hand quickly after a moment of stiffness.
The man lowered his eyelashes and whispered, "You've changed."
Sonia didn't say anything. She just smiled sourly. Finally, she couldn't hold the smile any longer. She leaned back on the bed with her eyes closed. She looked in pain, "I'm sorry. I'm not feeling well..."
"I see," Carl finally reached out his fingers and pressed them on either side of Sonia's temples, "is something wrong with your mental state?"
Sonia clutched the quilt with her fingers, "Lenard said... He said that I'm severely depressed and anxious, I..."
"You will recover."
Looking at Sonia's face, Carl said, "The time is running out. Sonia, you must get better."
"I..." Sonia made a quick excuse, "It was given to me by Victor."
Dixon did not suspect too much. Sonia was relieved.
This necklace... It must be Carl. He deliberately distracted her by hugging her just then and putting it for her quietly. She went to the bathroom and took a look at herself in the mirror.
The diamond shone lightly. Carl made so much effort to get in only to give her a necklace and those words. Why did he do this?
Sonia frowned slightly. She felt... She had seen this necklace somewhere.
Victor's birthday was next week. Sonia insisted on giving Victor's birthday party. Dixon could not stop her and had to stop the next counseling session for her. Sonia took Victor to the mall during the weekend. But unexpectedly, she bumped into Cassidy.
She had lost her memory of Cassidy. This woman gave her a hard time in the beginning. And she barely saw this woman later. But this time, Cassidy stopped Sonia.
"I heard that you were stabbed?"
That supermarket kidnapping case was a big deal back then. Later, the case that Sonia protected Dixon and was stabbed was also exposed. Everyone felt Sonia was a woman with a hard life and felt sympathy and pity behind her back.
Sonia frowned. Obviously, she did not want to talk to this woman who appeared out of nowhere. But Cassidy, who did not know whether she got a backbone or not, was so insistent, "Well, I didn't know you were so scheming. You said you hated Mr. Borris. But you deliberately took that stab for him. Sonia, you are so scheming."
Sonia didn't respond. But Victor grabbed Sonia's hand and taunted her sharply, "Who is this old woman?"
"You don't even know me?" Cassidy was angry. But Victor still smiled lightly, "you are just a speck of dirt. Generally, a character like you will be dead at the beginning of the novel. Why are you still so active?"
"You brat!" Cassidy was just about to rush out, a greasy male voice came from behind. Sonia turned around and saw a middle-aged man walking out with a designer shopping bag.
When he saw Sonia, the man's eyes lit up brightly.
