Dixon looked at Helena for a while and remembered the fearless words Quincy had said then.
"Isn't Sonia single? Why can't I go after her?"
Why not?
Dixon came back to his senses. A complex emotion flashed across his eyes. Then he said to Helena, "Mom, pack up the soup."
Helena was stunned, "Why? You want to bring it to work?"
"No."
Dixon was like a man who just came back to reality. He raised a smile to his mother, "I'll bring the soup to your grandson right now."
Helena knew what Dixon was up to and immediately said with red eyes, "Sure, sure... Wait a moment. What else does Victor like to eat? Why don't I make a salad for him? By the way, remember to give him the necklace..."
"Okay, I will remember. You don't have to make a new dish. Too many dishes might be messy. The soup is enough."
"Okay, okay," Helena agreed. After a while, she came out with a thermos box, "Be careful on your way."
"Yeah."
Dixon took the thermos box and then got into the car. He drove directly to Sonia's house in W City.
It was seven o'clock that night. Queenie's house door was knocked on. Queenie was brushing her teeth. She went to open the door in her pajamas. But when she saw Dixon standing outside the door, with a handsome face, a nice suit, and a bag in his hand, she almost sprayed a mouthful of toothpaste foam on Dixon's face.
"What... What the..."
Queenie was startled and almost swallowed the toothpaste. She rushed back to the toilet and rinsed her mouth. After wiping her mouth, she ran out again and stood outside the door with a wary look, "Why... Why are you here?"
The others were still in the room and did not hear them.
Seeing it was Queenie, Dixon didn't feel embarrassed. Anyway, he and Queenie had no grudge. So, Dixon put the thermos box and the jewelry box in Queenie's hand and said in the same low magnetic voice, "My mother misses Victor. She made him the soup. Please tell Sonia to have some soup. In that box is the birthday gift my mother prepared for Victor. Please pass these to them."
Queenie's eyes widened, feeling a thousand pounds in her hand. She asked in a surprised tone, "Are you really Dixon Borris?"
Dixon laughed at Queenie's question, "What's wrong?"
"Huh..." Queenie gasped, "You treated Sonia with no mercy at first. Why are you trying to be nice to her now? Are you trying to get back together?"
"Yes."
Dixon admitted it frankly.
Queenie's heart did a complete somersault. "What... What are you talking about? I'll pass these to them. But please don't show up in Sonia's eyes and ruin her good mood."
Her remarks were a bit harsh. Dixon frowned. Just when he wanted to say something, Sonia came out with Victor and saw Dixon standing in the doorway.
Victor was wide-eyed and thought they had seen a ghost. They went back to W City after parting with Dixon. Dixon's house was in Seaside City. Why did he appear in front of their house again?
However, despite the shock, the boy still called out calmly and maturely, "Good evening Mr. Borris, what can we do for you?"
Dixon looked at Queenie and then at Sonia on the side. He chose to tell the truth, "Victor, my mom made some soup for you and your mom, so I sent it over."
Just for a pot of soup? Did he come from Seaside City to W City especially?
Leon froze when he saw the pigeon soup, "Where did you guys get the midnight snack?"
Queenie winked mysteriously, "You won't believe that Dixon sent it in the middle of the night."
Leon slapped his thighs. Obviously, he was not convinced, "No way! Dixon especially sent the soup here? Unless his brain is squeezed by the door..."
Then he looked at Sonia and Victor's sincere faces. He felt shocked, "Really? Dixon?"
Victor nodded, "He just left. And he said good night."
Leon strides over and looked Sonia up and down a few times, "What's Dixon trying to do? Is this a roundabout strategy? The soup smells good, let me have a sip, baby."
"Stop it." Queenie laughed and spooned a mouthful of soup into Leon's mouth. The chef commented after drinking it, "Good, good. The soup is tasty and quite good."
"But..." Leon immediately changed the subject again, "Why did Dixon bring you something to eat in the middle of the night? And he came here from another town. It's not like Dixon."
Sonia looked up at the night outside the window and murmured, "People change..." Just like she was so afraid of Dixon back then. Now that time had changed, she had become so mature that she could accept it so openly.
Queenie was worried that Sonia would not be touched by Dixon. Now, it looked like she wouldn't have to worry.
Sonia's heart was empty. How could she be touched?
Dixon changed. He became a man who knew how to respect and how to protect. But Sonia changed too.
They could only miss each other.
