Chapter 286 Climbing Mount Hale
The moment Ava came downstairs, she ran into Queenie on the way out.
“Queenie, heading out too?”

Queenie smiled when she saw her. “I heard music coming from the dorm earlier. Was that you playing?”
Ava nodded. “Yeah, that was me. I didn’t disturb you, did I?”
“Not at all.” Queenie shook her head. “It sounded beautiful. Are you planning to use that piece for the welcome gala?”
Ava admitted, “I only settled on it today, and I’m still not very familiar with it, so I practiced a little longer than usual. After this, I probably won’t need to play for that long.”
Queenie gave her a thumbs–up. “It didn’t sound unfamiliar at all. It was smooth and really beautiful. You were amazing.”
Ava walked over to her side. “Let’s go together.”
The two of them walked side by side for a while. When they reached a fork, Queenie stopped first. “I need to head to the lab, so we part here.”
Ava lifted a hand in farewell. “Bye, Queenie.”
After that, Ava continued out through the school gates alone.
Less than two minutes later, Ethan’s light armored vehicle pulled up in front of her. She opened the door, got in, and fastened her seat belt before turning to him. “Where are we going?”
Ethan glanced at her. “Anywhere you want. We can just drive around if you feel like it.”
Ava thought for a moment. Then something occurred to her. “That Chapel of Lemone you mentioned before… would this be a good season to hike there?”
Ethan looked a little surprised. “You want to go hiking?”
Ava nodded. “Yeah.”
“Then we’ll go hiking,” Ethan replied.

The Chapel of Lemone stood on the summit of Mount Hale, a well–known hiking destination.
After Ethan parked the vehicle, Ava glanced around the parking area. Only a scattering of cars could be seen.
She said, “There don’t seem to be that many people here.”
Ethan reached out his hand toward her as they started walking. “From the base of the mountain to the top, it takes about three to four hours on foot. Not everyone’s willing to make the climb. There’s another route where people can take the cable car instead.”
He checked the time. “It’s 9 a.m. now. If we hike all the way up, we’ll probably get there around 1 p.m. Can you handle that?”
Ava answered without hesitation, “I can. I’m actually pretty good at hiking.”
Ethan nodded. “Then let’s go.”
Before long, they arrived at the trailhead. A route map stood off to one side, outlining the entire climbing route. Ava took a quick photo there as a little check–in before they began the
ascent.
At the start, the trail was fairly gentle. After a while, though, it began to slope upward. Tall trees rose on both sides, their branches weaving together overhead and casting the path into cool shade. The air felt clean and refreshing, and the silence around them was almost soothing.
After walking for some time, Ava paused to catch her breath.
Ethan unscrewed a bottle of water and handed it over. Ava took it, twisted the cap loose, and only drank a small mouthful, just enough to moisten her throat.
She remarked, “This would probably be a great place in the summer, too.”
Seeing the faint flush on her cheeks, Ethan replied, “If you like it, we can come back when
summer comes.”
Then he added, “The meatless dishes they serve up there are pretty popular. You can try them later.”
Ava’s brows lifted immediately. “Then I definitely have to try it.”
With that, she kept moving up the hill.
Ethan followed just behind her and asked as they walked, “How’s life been at Starry Heavens University? Are you settling in alright?”

Ava answered while climbing. “It’s much more interesting than at Larkwell Academy. Most of the professors are funny, and they’re genuinely good at what they do.
“It’s not like my old school, where lecturers mostly just read directly from the material.
“At Starry Heavens University, even a class that sounds easy turns into something completely different when the professor is good enough.
“Honestly, coming here was probably the best decision I’ve ever made.”
A faint smile appeared on Ethan’s face. “That’s good. I’m glad to hear that.”
Ava turned her head to look back at him. “I heard that when you were at Starry Heavens University, you were one of the Law Department’s golden duo. People there still talk about you
now.”
At that, Ethan looked at her with warm amusement in his eyes. “So you know that much about me already?”
Ava laughed. “One of my friends practically worships you. If she’d scored just a little better on her exams, she would’ve gone into Law without hesitation. She’s wanted to be a judge for years.”
Ethan seemed to think it over for a second before asking, “The girl who was with you at that lecture last time?”
