Jason finally turned to look at her, his eyes deep and heavy. “Do you really think Xavier is the kind of person who would do something like that?”
Aveline knew that with Xavier’s cold and proud nature, he would never do that. But Jason was acting so strangely, it was no wonder she thought so.
“Why are you saying all this weird stuff to me out of nowhere?
After I’m divorced, I’ll be with whoever I want. It’s none of your business.”
Jason gave her a deep look, then turned his gaze back to Lily and fell silent.
But he just kept sitting there, looking comfortable, with no intention of leaving.
Aveline wanted to walk away, but she was afraid Lily would look for her if she couldn’t see her, so she had to force herself to stay put.
With some difficulty, she managed to compose herself and focus on her book.
Lily ran over and first called out to Jason, “Uncle Jason.”
Jason smiled at her. “Lily, why’d you stop playing?”
Lily snuggled up to Aveline. “Aunt Aveline, I have to go to the bathroom.”
Aveline stood up. “Okay, Aunt Aveline will take you.”
The restroom was outside the kids‘ playground. Aveline took Lily’s hand and walked out.
Jason waited until they were out of sight, then looked away and picked up the picture book Aveline had been reading to flip through it.
Josephine drove to the club’s parking lot. She wasn’t a member and couldn’t get in, so she called Leona.
Leona replied, “I told the manager, and he’s already let the front desk know. Just come on in.”
“We’re all on the court. Xavier is playing with Sebastian right now.”
Josephine walked right into the clubhouse. When she told the front desk she was looking for

Leona, they nodded and pointed her toward the court.

As Josephine headed inside, she saw Aveline leading Brielle’s daughter, Valentina, out of the
restroom.
They didn’t see her and walked off in a different direction.
Josephine’s eyes narrowed, since Aveline and Valentina were clearly not heading for the court.
Josephine thought for a second, then quietly followed them to see where they were going.
Josephine saw Aveline walk into the kids‘ play area holding Valentina’s hand. Valentina let Aveline’s hand and ran off to play with the other children.

Then Aveline walked over to a seat by the window and sat down. Josephine was shocked to see Jason there too.
Jason handed a book to Aveline.
Aveline glanced at him, took it, and lowered her head to read.
Josephine stared at the two of them, wondering why Aveline and Jason were here together. It was just too strange to see them in the same place.
Josephine stopped walking and just watched them.
She then saw that Jason seemed to be watching Valentina play, but he would occasionally turn his head to glance at Aveline.
But neither of them said a word.
A strange thought popped into Josephine’s head: could Aveline be having an affair with Jason?
Or maybe Aveline was seducing Jason.
Or maybe Jason had a secret crush on Aveline.
In Josephine’s mind, she was hoping it was Aveline who seduced Jason and was cheating.
Josephine took out her phone and secretly snapped a few pictures.
Just then, Leona sent her a message, “Are you lost? Why aren’t you here yet?”
Josephine sent the photos to Leona, “I saw Aveline and Jason together.”
Leona was watching Xavier and Sebastian play ball; the two were evenly matched.

Leona hadn’t expected Sebastian to be so good. Then she thought that Justin Beltran’s skills must have improved recently too, because when he played against Sebastian earlier, they were also evenly matched.
Unless Sebastian had let Jason win.
When Xavier and Sebastian finished a game and stopped for a drink, Leona finally remembered Josephine and sent the message.
Seeing the photos and message from Josephine, Leona’s expression hardened, and she looked at the pictures carefully.
She couldn’t tell if Josephine had deliberately chosen the angle, but in two or three of the photos, Jason was looking at Aveline, while Aveline was clearly looking down at her book and not talking to him. The composition made it look like Jason was staring at Aveline.
Didn’t Aveline take Valentina to play? How did she end up with Jason?
Didn’t Jason sprain his wrist and go to the infirmary? How did he end up with Aveline?
Leona asked Josephine, “Where are they?”

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
