Chapter 746
Fiona’s smile vanished. “She wants a divorce.”
Xavier’s smile also disappeared. Coldly, he said, “Not happening.”
Fiona: “This is the 21st century. If a woman wants a divorce, she can get one.”
Xavier remained silent, his expression indifferent.
He didn’t know that Gerald had sent a message to Josephine: [Xav is in my private dining room. Do you want to come over?]
Josephine didn’t know if Xavier had recognized Marcus’s voice earlier, so she didn’t dare show her face. She replied to Gerald,
[I’m not coming. Xav definitely doesn’t want to see me.]
When Gerald saw the reply, he sighed, feeling sorry for Josephine.
He glanced over at Xavier and Fiona, wondering how those two ended up chatting tonight.
Xavier received a message from Amy: [Mr. Beltran, Bruce Baldwin has left his private dining room.]
Xavier immediately said to Fiona, “Let’s go. We’re going to meet a few people. Just follow me and don’t say anything out of line.”
Fiona frowned slightly at him. “Xavier, what is this all about?”
“You’ll find out if you come with me.”
Fiona was too curious, so she had no choice but to get up and follow Xavier out of the private dining room.
In the hallway, a pot–bellied, middle–aged man was walking toward them. When he saw Xavier coming out of a private dining room, he paused for a moment, then smiled:
“Mr. Beltran, what a coincidence. You’re here too.”
Xavier nodded. “Bruce, good evening.”

Bruce shook hands with Xavier, then looked at Fiona. “Aren’t you…‘
“Hello, Bruce. I’m Fiona.”
“Right, you’re Mr. Harmon’s sister, the lawyer.”
”
Then, Bruce and Xavier started chatting. Hearing that Michelle was also here, Xavier said:
“When our Jason was a kid, Michelle was the one who performed his appendectomy.”
Hearing this, Bruce smiled. “Michelle is an excellent surgeon, she just hasn’t operated in recent years.”
Then, Bruce invited Xavier to their private dining room.
Xavier agreed without hesitation.
Fiona, standing to the side, was surprised. She wondered, are these the people Xavier wanted to meet? Why?
Her curiosity piqued, she followed Xavier into Bruce’s private dining room.
As soon as they entered, Bruce announced that he had run into Mr. Beltran and brought him along, and everyone in the room came over to greet them.
Michelle was clearly taken aback for a second, but she naturally came over to say hello as well.
“Mr. Beltran.”
Xavier nodded and said with a faint smile, “Michelle, it’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”
Michelle was taken aback and gave an uneasy laugh. “You’re too kind, Mr. Beltran.”
Bruce laughed and said, “Mr. Beltran mentioned that when his brother Jason had his appendix removed as a child, Michelle was the surgeon. It seems Mr. Beltran is still very grateful.”
“Mr. Beltran is such a loyal and appreciative man.
Fiona, who was listening nearby, secretly got goosebumps, wondering what on earth Xavier was up to.
Everyone sat down to toast and drink. Xavier made a point of sitting next to Michelle, and he clinked his glass with hers.
“My aunt and uncle still talk about how wonderful you were, Michelle.”
Michelle said uncomfortably, “You’re too kind, Mr. Beltran.”
After taking a sip of his drink, Xavier added, “Back when I had surgery at North City General Hospital, you were still working there, Michelle, but we never had the chance to meet.”
“You went to great lengths to secure blood for my surgery that day, Michelle, and I’m eternally grateful. I had wanted to thank you in person, but then you left Entora for Kralville.”
Xavier keenly observed that as he spoke, Michelle’s hand tightened around her glass, and her expression grew uneasy.
Michelle repeated the same phrase, “You’re too kind, Mr. Beltran.”
Fiona, sitting a short distance away, watched them and felt that something was increasingly
strange.
She recalled Aveline mentioning that Xavier was investigating the incident where she had saved him. Could Michelle be involved in that too?
After all, the more she thought about it, the more it seemed like Xavier had come here tonight specifically to target Michelle.
Or perhaps, Xavier had originally come for a date with Josephine, but since he ran into her, he was deliberately putting on this act for her benefit.
Xavier swirled the liquid in his glass and said calmly, “Michelle, did someone from my family pressure you back then? Otherwise, why would you have broken protocol to allow an on–site blood donation at the hospital?”
Michelle’s hand, holding the glass, trembled slightly.

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
