Xavier listened to them talk, glancing at Marcus from time to time. He looked completely out of it, probably because Josephine was staying in one of the villas in front, making him nervous.

Because there was a hotel and a theme park under development at Mount Ardwood, Xavier had some of his people stationed there.

He took out his phone and sent a text to Amy, [Have our people watch Josephine.]

Xavier felt there was no need to stay any longer, so he got up and said he was going back to rest.

Aunt smiled. “Is Xavier staying over there?

“If you’re doing so fine, then hurry up and have a baby. Your mother is anxious for a grandchild, and Rupert is hoping for a great–grandchild.”

Miranda was sitting in the living room. When she saw him come back, she stood up, as if she had been waiting for him.

Xavier asked, “Are the old couple asleep?”

Miranda replied, “They just went to bed.”

“And Aveline?”

“I just saw her light was still on. I don’t think she’s asleep yet.”

Xavier nodded. “You should get some rest too. Amy will lock up.”

Miranda had actually planned to wait up for him to lock the door, but after he said that, she just nodded and went upstairs with him to rest.

Xavier walked to Aveline’s bedroom, pushed down on the handle, but it was locked from the inside and wouldn’t open.

He chuckled, knowing Aveline was trying to keep him out. He let go of the handle and went back to his room.

Aveline was sitting up in bed, texting Fiona about her day.

When she heard the noise outside, she knew it was Xavier messing around and rolled her eyes.

She had expected it, which is why she locked the door. Otherwise, that guy would have come in to bother her again.

Seeing that he got the hint and left when the door wouldn’t open, she pursed her lips and went back to texting Fiona.

When it was time to sleep, she said goodnight to Fiona, turned off the light, and lay down.
