AN: Hello lovely. I am taking a leave day tomorrow. Happy reading.
Xiang Yu stood by the car, his eyes scanning the bustling street as Lian and Mei struggled with their suitcases. The twins, identical in their determination, were trying to lift the heavy bags into the trunk. Just as they were about to give up, Han Zhan rushed over, his face a mix of annoyance and concern.
"Here, let me help you," Han Zhan said, his voice gruff but kind.
Lian smiled gratefully. "Thank you."
Mei echoed her sister, "Thank you, Uncle."
Han Zhan’s jaw tightened. "You should at least call me brother. You call Little Bai brother, so why not call me brother too?"
Lian shook her head firmly. "No."
Han Zhan sighed, lifting the suitcases with ease and placing them in the car. "Why not?"
Mei didnt golf back. He replied, "You are older than our master, so you are our uncle."
Han Zhan’s face fell into a resigned expression. "..." It was going to be a long stay. These two were most definitely going to make him miserable at every chance they could get.
Xiang Yu approached, carrying his own bag. "Did you pack your uniforms?" he asked, his tone serious.
Lian and Mei exchanged a quick glance before nodding. "Um, yes."
Xiang Yu’s eyes narrowed. He could always tell when they were lying. "Seriously?"
The twins’ guilty expressions were all the confirmation he needed. "You two are in big trouble," he said, turning on his heel and heading back into the apartment.
As Xiang Yu walked past Han Xin, who was leaning against the car, Han Xin straightened up and got into the driver’s seat. Han Zhan, still fuming, muttered, "Xiang Yu would make a really good mom, wouldn’t he?"
Little Bai, sitting in the back seat, widened his eyes in surprise. "Excuse me, Master is not a mommy," Lian protested.
Mei nodded vigorously. "Yeah, he is looking for a mommy for us."
Han Xin, who was clipping his seatbelt, paused for a fleeting moment. He wasn’t going to ask, but Han Zhan wasn’t so modest. Leaning in from the back seat, he asked, "What sort of mommy is he looking for?"
Han Zhan was already starting to think that Xiang Yu was not looking for a mommy but a daddy. Lian pursed her lips, while Mei glanced at Han Xin, quickly looking away when she saw him watching her.
A chorus of "Nothing," "Nope," "Well," and "Nothing at all" followed.
Xiang Yu raised an eyebrow but decided to let it go. "Okay."
Han Xin started the car, and as they drove away, two security cars flanked them—one in front and one behind.
A few feet along the street, inside an inconspicuous white car, a man dressed in all black with his seat leaning back watched the cars drive off. It was Agent Shen. Peng Xiu had instructed him to come to the tattoo shop and report everything he saw. She had emphasized that if Xiang Yu got arrested, he should inform her immediately. Agent Shen didn’t think it was going to be a big deal. He didn’t know what to expect, but he certainly didn’t anticipate a shootout.
He witnessed the Die clan’s convoy pull up to the tattoo shop and shatter the windows with a deafening explosion. The madam of the Die clan emerged from one of the cars, her presence commanding and fierce. She strode towards the tattoo shop, but the metal doors slammed down, securing the entrance. Agent Shen watched as Madam Die kicked the metal doors in frustration before her son dragged her away.
His first instinct was to call the police and rush into the tattoo shop, but he remembered Peng Xiu’s strict orders: no cops, no interference, no matter what. He thought this was it, the police would arrive, called by a concerned neighbour, and arrest Xiang Yu. But before the cops could arrive, a van sped towards the garage at the side of the building. A man, limping and clearly injured, ran out from the side of the building into the street before disappearing in the night.
There was too much happening for Agent Shen to keep up. He wanted to step out and get a closer look, but the fear of being spotted kept him rooted in his seat. After what felt like an eternity, the van drove off, and not long after, patrol cars arrived on the scene.
Agent Shen’s heart pounded in his chest. He had witnessed more than he had bargained for, and he knew that whatever was happening inside that tattoo shop was intense. He thought any minute now, Xiang Yu would be arrested, and there would be ample evidence. frёewebηovel.cѳm
But he didn’t expect them to drive off after some time, seemingly having found nothing wrong. He watched in confusion as the patrol cars departed as if the chaos from a few minutes ago had never happened. The street was eerily quiet, the shattered glass and s few debris the only evidence of the earlier incident.
