Han Xin finally stopped after walking for what felt like an eternity and asked himself what he was doing. He had rarely lost control of his emotions, and this time he wasn’t even provoked. He realized how foolish he was acting.
Turning to head in the direction of the lecture hall for their first class, he caught sight of the store on campus. He recalled Xiang Yu’s hangover and decided to buy him something for it. Since he had asked to be Xiang Yu’s attendant again, he had to at least do the job properly or pretend too.
He walked into the store and looked for the section with nutrient supplements. While he was searching for the ones perfect for hangovers, a figure suddenly stood beside him. Han Xin could recognize that perfume anywhere. It used to irritate him in his past life, and it still does now.
"You are here too, Your Highness," Han Xin said, his voice flat.
Peng Xiu smiled sweetly. "Xin-ge, I have told you to stop calling me that. It makes me feel like we are strangers."
Han Xin’s fingers froze on the blueberry-flavoured hangover nutrient pack. He just realized that when Xiang Yu called him Xin-ge, it was pleasant to the ear, but when Peng Xiu called him that, it felt like an irritation deep in his soul. "I will call you Ah-Xiu as long as you stop calling me Xin-ge," he replied.
Peng Xiu didn’t want to stop. She felt that if she did, the distance between them would grow bigger, and all her efforts would be wasted. "No, I can’t help it," she said, her smile unwavering.
Han Xin sighed internally as he took two packs of the nutrient supplements. Peng Xiu looked at the hangover supplements he picked and asked, her voice filled with anger, "Did that villain make you drink alcohol?"
"No, he didn’t," Han Xin replied, his tone even.
Peng Xiu didn’t believe him. "Then where did you sleep last night? Why didn’t you come to stay at my palace? I tried calling you."
Han Xin walked to the self-checkout and said, "I just threw the things to the side and slept in my room." He didn’t want to tell her anything, so he lied with a straight face.
"You deserve better," Peng Xiu said. "We are having dinner with my father today. I will bring it up to him and ask him to transfer you to me, okay?"
Han Xin knew this entire thing had something to do with Peng Xiu. He knew how badly this woman had been obsessed with him in his past life. She would do anything, even kill, to take the place beside him.
In his past life, he only realized it later, after the princess of the federation died. All of Peng Xiu’s kind and gentle facade was for others to see, a mask that hid her true face carefully.
As Han Xin walked closer, he heard Xiang Yu reprimanding the two. "You are siblings, you shouldn’t fight over silly things. If you want to fight, let it be in training."
Lian and Mei had deliberately come over with their injuries to look for sympathy from Xiang Yu, but who would have thought they would be scolded to the high heavens? Lian whispered to Mei, "Do you think he is on his cycle?"
Mei replied, "That or he is still angry about his body pillow."
Xiang Yu yelled, "I heard that! You really want me to die out of anger, don’t you?" He smacked each of them upside their heads, and they rubbed the backs of their heads while yelping.
Xiang Yu was about to scold them further when two packets of nutrient supplements were placed in front of him. He looked up and saw Han Xin, the person who had just run off earlier. Xiang Yu sneered before lying back down in annoyance.
He couldn’t help but wonder if both his children and their father had plotted to make him mad today. He didn’t want to talk to any of them anymore. Han Xin saw he was being ignored, so he asked the other two, "What happened?"
Han Xin was asking as if he didn’t know why Xiang Yu was mad. It was either because he walked away from him earlier or the body pillow he tore last night. Lian leaned forward to get a better look at Han Xin and said, "He is mad because of his body pillow and taking it out on us."
