Chapter 396: Han Xin’s identity exposed

"Surely there must be a good explanation," she whispered to herself, determination flaring as she brushed her sister and Leia away. She stepped forward, ready to confront the truth. But as her foot met the floor, Han Xin turned his gaze from the unconscious Xiang Yu, locking eyes with her. His expression shifted, darkening into a glare that felt like ice.

The energy radiating from him was an unmistakable mark of dominance. The air was thick, charged with his powerful pheromones, and those who had entered the room found themselves sweating under his intensity. They could neither approach nor retreat, frozen in a moment where authority was brutally clear.

His overbearing pheromones erupted, filling the room with a tangible sense of threat. It was a claim of territory, a warning that resonated through Sienna’s core. She froze, fear gripping her chest, her breath quickening as she stood paralyzed beneath his ferocity.

Just then, Leia and her sister seized Sienna, pulling her back away from the volatile scene. "We need to leave!" Leia urged, her voice frantic.

Sienna struggled against their grip, but the instinct to stay and understand was strong. "No! I have to help Xiang Yu!"

"Let’s go!" her sister insisted, dragging her further away.

"Doctor Bai!" Han Xin called out, desperation weaving through his words.

Doctor Bai snapped back to awareness, ready to push through the crowd to reach Xiang Yu. But before he could take a step, a heavy aura crashed down around them, enveloping everyone with its oppressive force.

It was a presence that commanded submission, a hallmark of a high-ranking alpha. The guards stiffened, their postures betraying the instinct to kneel, even though their pride resisted. It was unnatural for alphas to bow to anyone, except in the presence of the imperial lord.

Earlier on

The Imperial Lord stood tall, reprimanding his daughter with a stern face. His voice echoed through the hallway, authority dripping from every word. But just as he prepared to deliver his final admonition, a strange sensation stirred in the air around him. It was an intense force, unfamiliar and potent, a presence that threatened to challenge his authority.

"Peng Xiu," he commanded sharply, "go to your palace and do not leave." A flicker of anger crossed her face, but she bowed her head and stepped back, retreating.

He strode forward, his polished boots clicking sharply against the stone floor as he followed the powerful aura seeping through the arena. Guards lined the hall, and as he passed, they bowed low, their obedience palpable. The air grew charged with anticipation, a tension that seemed to pulse with each step he took.

As he approached the door, those stationed there felt the weight of his oppressive presence. Hesitation gripped the guards, but one by one, they knelt, heads bowed in submission to their lord. The atmosphere shifted ominously, thickening with power and urgency. Clearing the path, they allowed him entry into the room, and he slowed his steps, every instinct on high alert.

The moment he crossed the threshold, he sensed the change in the air. A strong, potent scent lingered, weaving through the atmosphere and settling like a challenge at the back of his throat. His eyes narrowed, bloodshot with fury and disbelief.

Before him was Han Xin, the embodiment of dominance, cradling his unconscious son as if he were a fragile omega. Han Xin radiated a power that resonated through the very fabric of the room, a fierce protector ready to defend what was his at any cost.

The Divine Emperor raised an eyebrow. "Who told you to overspend that body of your—hey, stop it!"

Xiang Yu had tossed a piece of popcorn at him, followed quickly by another kernel. "I only did that to save your son!" he retorted playfully.

"Liar. You did it for your own ego," the Divine Emperor shot back, but amusement flickered in his eyes despite himself.

Xiang Yu shrugged, tossing yet another fluffy kernel into the air. "Fine, but you should have heard the mouth of that Sirius guy."

"Can’t you just ignore him?" the Divine Emperor asked, exasperation creeping into his tone.

Xiang Yu sneered, his expression turning mock-serious. "Ignore him? Father-in-law, he was flirting with me! How can you tell me to let it go?"

The Divine Emperor blinked, momentarily dumbfounded, his mouth opening and closing without a sound. Xiang Yu seized the moment, popping a piece of popcorn in his mouth, chewing thoughtfully as he continued. "He was ruining my reputation before I even walked over the threshold into my husband’s home. Or is it Han Xin who will be walking through my palace’s threshold?"

The Divine Emperor, "..."
