Han Zhan sighed, the concern evident in his voice. "He is probably worried that if he comes back now, there will be backlash and everyone will call for him to be punished."
Han Xin’s response was immediate and stern. "Then I will tell everyone that he is my omega and I will make him my imperial empress."
Han Zhan had anticipated this, but it still took him aback to hear Han Xin say it so bluntly. He knew that Han Xin was determined to make Xiang Yu his imperial empress, no matter the cost. In this relationship, Han Zhan feared that Han Xin’s overwhelming presence might drive Xiang Yu away. He couldn’t even imagine the storm that would follow if Xiang Yu ever left Han Xin.
Just as he was about to suggest that Han Xin wait until he found Xiang Yu to make such an announcement, Han Xin’s communicator rang. He answered it, his expression unchanged.
"Your Majesty, there is a civilian spacecraft approaching. It’s registered to the Peng family, and they are requesting to dock," the head of the crimson guard reported.
Han Xin’s voice was cold and ruthless. "Refuse their request."
"Yes, Your Majesty," the guard replied, ending the call.
Han Zhan sneered. "What does she want? She should get lost."
It was no secret that Han Zhan disliked Peng Xiu. He felt a strong aversion toward her and wished she would disappear. Han Xin was about to say he didn’t know what she wanted when his communicator rang again. This time, it was Peng Xiu calling.
Han Xin answered but said nothing. Peng Xiu’s voice came through, brittle and tearful. "Xin-ge, I know my father hurt you in the past, and my brother was rude to you, but why should I suffer for what they did? Why don’t you want to see me?"
Han Zhan rolled his eyes, wishing he could lock her up along with her father and throw away the key. Han Xin, not one to be swayed by tears, asked in the most monotone voice, "What do you want?"
Peng Xiu’s sniffles halted for a moment before she regained her composure. "I want to see you. I travelled all this way. At least give me a chance to speak to you."
Han Xin’s face remained emotionless as he listened to her speak. He didn’t believe Peng Xiu’s act and wasn’t moved by her crocodile tears. "I have no time to speak to you," he said before ending the call. He thought that was the end of it, but Peng Xiu was not the type to take no for an answer. She sent him a message right after that which made Han Xin change his mind.
A few minutes later, Peng Xiu walked into the war room and took off her coat, smiling at Han Xin as she laid eyes on him. She had been longing to see him, and now that he was in front of her, she couldn’t contain herself. She rushed to him, almost ready to jump into his arms, but Han Zhan immediately stepped in front of him, protecting him. "Miss Peng, please restrain yourself. You can’t just approach His Majesty without being summoned."
Peng Xiu’s smile stiffened. She wiped away a tear from the corner of her eye like a delicate flower whose petal had fallen. She wanted to complain, but upon seeing Han Xin’s stern expression, she held back.
Han Xin’s expression remained cold as she continued speaking. "I was wrong. It seems that’s not your preference."
Peng Xiu stared at him quietly for a second before leaning back in her seat. "Then what is your preference... my brother?"
Han Xin finally reacted, his jaw clenching as his eyes grew colder. The aura in the room shifted, becoming suffocating and oppressive.
"I can be him," Peng Xiu said, her voice low and seductive. "I can be just like him, and we can live a happy life together as a couple. With me by your side, we can reign supreme and conquer the Federation, ruling it together."
Peng Xiu was so focused on her words that she didn’t notice Han Xin’s mental power gathering around him, suffocating and murderous. Its tendrils hovered around her, and before she could finish her speech, she was gripped by the tendrils and flung against the wall, unable to breathe.
Han Xin stood up slowly, his eyes glowing a fierce, luminous blue. He stood a few feet from her and said, "Tell me about my mother or get lost."
Peng Xiu’s face turned red, her veins throbbing with pain. Han Xin withdrew some of his mental power, allowing her to take a breath, but her expression was filled with fury and viciousness.
