Venerable Demon King & The Doting Immortal (QT) novel Chapter 82

Chapter 82: “There, now the general will be single for one more year,”

The head monk watched them from the garden’s edge, his expression a mix of pride and sternness. "I hope you have atoned for your wrongdoing your Highness," he said, his voice carrying a weight of expectation. He stroked his beard with a satisfied look on his face like he had achieved something great.

Xiang Yu turned to look at him, a sly smirk playing on his lips. Who did this monk think he was messing with? He only didn’t protest because he knew his situation but that didn’t mean he would let it slide. The monk’s eyes widened in fear, and he took a step back, clutching his prayer beads tighter. It was as though he had faced off with the devil.

As they left the temple grounds, Yi Nuo suggested, "Your Highness, you should get on my back. You can barely walk." They had to take him to the medical tent as soon as they reached the military camp.

Xiang Yu didn’t hesitate. The twins were too short to carry him so why not take Yi Nuo up on that offer. "Gladly," he said, his voice hoarse but grateful. She crouched down, and Xiang Yu climbed onto her back. As she stood up, she muttered, "You are heavier than you look."

Xiang Yu, "..."

Of course, he was heavier than he looked. He was after all a grown man in exceptionally good disguise. He chuckled, a sound that was more a rasp than a laugh. "Are you making fun of me, Sister Nuo?"

Lian grinned as she skipped in front of them. "Master, maybe you should lose some weight."

Mei shook her head, her tone protective. "No, our master is just fine. Don’t shame master." The four of them laughed and joked around as they made their way back to the military camp.

When they returned Xiang Yu settled in the medical tent, wincing slightly as the physician carefully cleaned and bandaged the wounds on his knees. He sipped water from a wooden cup, the cool liquid soothing his parched throat. Lian and Mei sat beside him being so helpful. They kept offering him small snacks to stave off his hunger. Mei handed him a piece of dried fruit, while Lian offered a handful of nuts.

When Han Xin heard that Peng Xiu had returned, he made his way towards the medical tent. He wanted to see for himself if she was fine. As long as her life wasn’t in danger that was fine by him. However, his steps suddenly faltered when he saw, from a distance, those legs that barely saw the sun.

Peng Xiu’s legs were smooth and long, an unexpected sight that made him feel a strange discomfort. This was very inappropriate. He immediately turned to walk back. Han Zhan, who had been following behind him was surprised by his cousin’s sudden change of direction. "What happened? Aren’t you going to see Peng Xiu anymore?" he asked, confusion evident in his voice.

Han Xin glanced back at the tent, then shook his head. "She seems fine," he said, trying to sound nonchalant.

Han Zhan’s brow arched. Ever since Han Xin returned from the temple, he had been acting weird like something was bothering him. He was about to turn and look for himself, but Han Xin grabbed his arm and pulled him away. "Let’s go," he insisted, his grip firm. He didn’t want his cousin to see it. In other words, he was doing him a favour. Han Zhan frowned but followed, casting a curious glance towards his cousin trying to figure him out.

Lian’s mouth watered and Mei rubbed her hands together in eager anticipation. Xiang Yu’s lips quirked slightly into a genuine smile. This was why he worked so hard. It was to see the twins happy. Being the generous man he was he extended his hospitality towards the two men.

He offered them pieces of the succulent meat. Han Zhan accepted it with a bemused smile. He knew it wasn’t poisoned so he had no problem taking it. Han Xin however was another story. Maintaining his stoic demeanour he politely declined. Xiang Yu tilted his head slightly, his eyes fixed on Han Xin as he ate.

Han Zhan was barely able to contain his amusement as he watched eagerly to see what Peng Xiu was planning. With a voice as sweet as honey, he asked, "Xin-ge, are you still fasting? Hoping the goddess will bless you with a wife if you avoid meat?"

Han Xin’s jaw tensed but he remained silent. He continued to eat as if he hadn’t heard her. His back was straight and he remained indifferent like nothing could anger him.

Xiang Yu’s lips curved into a slight pout acting like he was hurt after being ignored. He pinched a piece of meat with his chopsticks and without warning, shoved it into Han Xin’s mouth.

"There, now the general will be single for one more year," he declared with a mischievous grin. The twins’ eyes widened in shock while Han Zhan covered his mouth, stifling his laughter.

For a moment, Han Xin was too stunned to react. Spitting it out was too gross so he had no choice but to swallow it. He stood up his expression stormy and walked away without a word. While Xiang Yu smiled slyly, satisfied that he had successfully disrupted that ugly bastard’s dinner.
