Vengeance in His Bed novel Chapter 232

Chapter 232: The Weight of Being Left Behind

Jannah stopped thrashing, staring up into his tormented face, her breath catching in her throat. "Why can’t you just believe me?!" she whispered, her voice cracking.

Dorrent sneered, his grip on her wrists tightening just enough to hold her still without hurting her.

"Because I was once a brilliant doctor, Jannah," Dorrent revealed coldly, his eyes narrowing into two sharp slits. "And that test kit you handed me... it wasn’t yours. The chemical strip was cold and completely dry. It looks like it was done hours ago by someone else!"

Jannah’s heart violently slammed against her ribcage. The color completely drained from her lips. "You... you’re hallucinating," she choked out desperately. "You’re making things up!"

"If I’m hallucinating..." Dorrent purred darkly, leaning down until his lips almost touched hers, "...then take the fresh test right here before me."

Cornered, trapped beneath his massive weight, and completely overwhelmed by the crushing pressure of his aura, Jannah finally broke.

"Fine!" Jannah screamed, turning her head away from his intoxicating mouth. "Get off me! Just get off me!"

Dorrent didn’t move an inch. He kept his thigh wedged securely between her legs, looking down at her with a dangerous, calculating gaze. "Where are you going to get the urine sample right now when you just used the washroom ten minutes ago?"

Jannah glared up at him, her chest heaving violently against his. "You will just have to sit there and wait until I feel like urinating again!"

"Won’t that take hours?" Dorrent murmured, a dark, wicked smirk slowly curling onto his lips as his hand began to slide dangerously up the silk fabric of her inner thigh. "I can just help you speed up the process..."

"Touch me and I swear I will bite your finger off!" Jannah cursed furiously, using every ounce of her remaining strength to shove against his hard chest until he finally relented slightly, allowing her to push him back off the bed.

She scrambled to the opposite side of the mattress, pulling her sweater down, her breath coming in heavy, ragged gasps as she smoothed her disheveled hair.

Dorrent sat up slowly on the edge of the bed, his bathrobe sliding open slightly to reveal his broad chest. He just sat there, looking at her with a terrifyingly calm, heavy disappointment that cut deeper than any roar of anger ever could.

"Why did you lie to me, Jannah?" Dorrent asked, his voice dropping into a quiet, hollow baritone that echoed through the vast room. "Whose test kit did you sneak into my house?"

Jannah kept her back turned to him, clutching her arms tightly around herself, ignoring his question as if she hadn’t heard a single word.

"Do you really despise me that bad?" Dorrent pressed, his tone dripping with a dark, bitter ache as he stared at her rigid silhouette. "Are you really so disgusted by the thought of bearing my child... that you would resort to using a fake, negative sample just to convince me you aren’t carrying my blood?"

Jannah whirled around, her eyes flashing with a sudden, devastating storm of tears and burning hatred, her voice echoing off the ceilings.
