Wake Up Leave The Liar novel Chapter 150

Chapter 128

Ashley said, “Well, I’m not joining you guys.”

Sam’s eyes widened. “Mommy, you’re leaving?”

“Yes,” she said softly, stroking Sam’s head.”I have to go now. Have fun.”

“Oh…”

Ashley smiled, said nothing more, and left without looking back.

Chase watched her go, without trying to stop her. He said to Sam, “Let’s go.”

“Okay.”

As soon as they got in the car, Chase’s phone rang. It was his grandmother. As soon as he answered, she exclaimed, “You started a project with the Monds and Holdens?!”

Chase hummed, a smile playing on his lips.”You just found out?”

“You!” Emily fumed.”What does this mean? You’re… divorcing Ashley, aren’t you?” He wouldn’t be so blatant otherwise. His willingness to involve the Monds and Holdens, without fear of Ashley’s reaction, showed his resolve.

Before he could speak, Emily declared, “I don’t agree! And if you’re going to start the project, fine, but you have to stop working with those people. If you don’t, I will—”

“Grandma,” Chase interrupted calmly, “I did what I promised you before I got married. Now, please keep your promise and stop interfering in my business.” It meant that he wouldn’t listen to her on this.

You… Emily sputtered.

Since Chase had taken over Sterling Corp, the company had flourished. Shareholders and key management knew that following his lead was a sure bet.

If Emily tried to interfere, other shareholders would likely oppose her. Sterling Corp needed Chase, not the other way around.

Threatening him with the company wouldn’t work. And family pressure? As he’d said, marrying Ashley was already a compromise. Emily knew he wasn’t someone who would back down repeatedly.

He was loyal to his own choices. If she pushed him too far…

Emily’s silence indicated her acquiescence. Chase asked, “Did you eat?”

She hung up. He chuckled.

Sam looked up curiously. “What happened?”

Chase casually put down his phone. “Your great-grandmother is upset.”

“Oh? Did you upset her?”

‘Yes’

“Aren’t you going to appease her?”

“Not now.”

‘Okay…”

Ashley went back to her office. Tim didn’t ask about the parent-teacher event “Did you eat?”

Ashley said, “Not yet.”

“Come with me. I’ll treat you to lunch.”

“Okay,” she smiled.

At the restaurant, they ran into Mr. Keller from Sterling Corp, who was dining with his family. Mr. Keller ushered them into a private room and then spoke to Tim,”I thought we might have another chance to collaborate, but…”

Tim’s smile was thin. I heard your new project was doing well.”

“Yes, it’s excellent. Mr. Sterling cares about it; it’s bound to succeed.”

“Oh, Tim responded coolly. “I heard the Monds and Holdens have significant roles. No one has a problem with that?”

They does, but it’s not a big deal,” Mr. Keller replied.”All the shareholders want a piece of this good project, but it was the first time Mr. Sterling had appointed someone to participate his project. They wouldn’t show their displeasure. Besides, the Monds and Holdens are competent and trustworthy, so the impact is minimal.”

Tim cut him off.”Alright, enjoy time with your family. We’ll have dinner next time.”

“Sounds good,” Mr. Keller agreed.

Once Mr. Keller left, Tim said, “Let’s go in.”

“Okay.”

After lunch, they went back to the office and were told Jeffery had arrived. They still weren’t planning to see him.

Jeffery didn’t leave. In the evening, as Ashley was leaving, he stopped her.”Ms. Jones.”

Ashley turned with a cold face.”Mr. Cooper, what can I do for you?”
