Chapter 273
Although Ashley and Tim had Zack decline Cavett’s invitation to meet.
Two days later, Cavett still showed up uninvited.
Since he came in person, Ashley and Tim couldn’t completely refuse to see him.
They symbolically met with him, but after chatting with him for more than ten minutes, they asked him to leave.
After that, when Cavett tried to arrange another meeting, they didn’t respond.
Ashley and Tim were firm in their stance, and Mr. Smythe couldn’t get a meeting. The next day, he invited Tanya out for a meal.

During the meal, Mr. Smythe chatted with her about industry matters for a while, then said, “If you had joined Eternal last year, you would have grown
a lot, what a pity.”
During their last meeting, Mr. Smythe had asked her about her current situation.
He hadn’t said anything when he learned she didn’t join Eternal before, but now that he thought about it again, he couldn’t help but sigh.
Tanya knew what he meant.
Ashley’s thesis had caused a great stir both domestically and internationally.
Many people in the industry said that since Eternal dared to publish such an important research achievement directly as a paper, it meant that Eternal still had a lot of core technologies developed by incredibly talented people that had not been released publicly.
Tanya believed this point.
Last year, she did want to join Eternal to work on their programming language, and she had no idea that Eternal would develop to this extent in such a
short time.
If she had known this earlier, she would have found a way to join Eternal last year, no matter what.
As Mr. Smythe said, if she had really joined Eternal last year, she would have also achieved significant professional growth.
If she had stayed at Eternal for two or three years, by the time she left Eternal, she would probably have been able to single-handedly bring up the family’s tech company.
Looking back now, she only realized that Ashley preventing her from joining Eternal back then caused her to miss not just a connection like Tim, but more importantly, a crucial opportunity to develop herself!
Mr. Smythe said, “Do you still have plans to join Eternal now?”
How could she not want to?
However, as long as Tim’s attitude towards Ashley remained unchanged, she wouldn’t have this opportunity.
Of course, she couldn’t possibly tell Mr. Smythe this.
She only said, “I now have my own tech company, and I’ve collaborated with Eternal before. Considering technical security issues, Mr. Reed probably wouldn’t consider letting me work at Eternal.”
Mr. Smythe looked disappointed upon hearing that ‘Is that so?”
Friday morning.
As soon as Ashley returned from her run downstairs, Emily called, inviting her for dinner.
They hadn’t seen each other in a long time; after a few months, Ashley had no reason to decline the invitation.
Thinking of this, she was about to speak when Emily said again, Ill call Chase and Sam to join us, Ashley, do
Ashley’s heart was calm as she said, “I don’t mind.”
you
mind?”
She was telling the truth.
She truly didn’t mind.
Putting work aside, just because of Sam, it would be almost impossible for her and Chase to have no further interaction in the future.
Emily understood that Ashley could answer so readily, it was simply because she had truly let go of Chase.
Since she had let go, simply treating him as her child’s father, and having a peaceful meal with him, what was the big deal?
Thinking of this, Emily’s heart was momentarily unsure whether to be happy or sad.
After hanging up the phone, Ashley returned to the office. When she opened her computer, she found that Mr. Smythe had sent her an email.

The general meaning was asking if she had been to LA, saying that if she wanted to visit LA, he could be her tour guide and show her the charm of LA’s mountains and rivers. He also offered to introduce her to LA’s industry giants and told her about the current research directions of some major enterprises in LA.
Although Mr. Smythe’s email asked if she wanted to visit LA, it was actually a recruitment offer.
Telling her about the research directions of some projects by these industry giants was also a way of telling her that if she agreed, she would receive significant attention.
Ashley understood perfectly. After replying that she had no plans to go abroad in the short term, she exited her email.
In the evening, after getting off work, Ashley headed to the private room Emily had booked.
When she arrived at the private room, Emily was already there.
As soon as she sat down, the door to the private room was pushed open again, and Sam excitedly ran in:”Mommy!”
Ashley had no choice but to reach out and hug Sam who was pouncing on her.
Accompanying Sam was his nanny, Penelope, Chase was nowhere to be seen.
Sam sat down beside Ashley. It was only when Emily told Ashley to order for Sam that she said, “I called Chase this morning, and he said he didn’t have time, so he wouldn’t be coming. Hmph, if he’s not coming, we’ll just eat by ourselves. It’s not like we’re dying for him to be here.”
Hearing that, Ashley smiled and hummed in agreement.
