Chapter 347
Ashley was about to respond when Chase spoke first.”Your mom’s busy with work, don’t bother her.”
Sam pouted, clearly upset. He looked up at Ashley with a pleading look.

Ashley said, “Mommy’s going back to the office for a meeting, then another business meeting. It’s not convenient to bring you this time. Next time.”
Hearing Ashley say that, Sam’s voice sounded a bit muffled, but he eventually let go.”Fine…”
Emily wasn’t awake yet, and Amanda and Chase didn’t have much to say to each other, so when Ashley left, Amanda went with her.
In the elevator, she said flatly, “He’s not worried about Sam disrupting your work. He’s worried someone might recognize him at the office.”
Ashley understood her meaning.
If word got out that she and Chase were still married and hadn’t officially divorced yet, Tanya would bear the brunt of it.
To protect Tanya, Chase would naturally keep their undivorced status completely under wraps until their divorce was finalized.
Downstairs, Ashley watched Amanda’s car drive away before turning and getting into her own.
Just as Zark arrived at the hospital and got out of his car, he instantly recognized Ashley’s profile.
He instinctively started to speak, but Ashley had already driven out through the exit.
Zark bit back the words he was about to say.
Ethan came around from the driver’s side and patted his shoulder.”What are you spacing out for? Let’s go.”
Zark snapped out of it and, along with Ethan, turned to head upstairs.
Seeing them, Sam greeted, “Uncle Zark, Uncle Ethan.”
Zark smiled, reached out to ruffle Sam’s hair, then placed the fruit basket on a nearby table.
Just then, he noticed the gifts Ashley and Amanda had brought over.
On one of the gifts, the small card Ashley had personally written, wishing Emily a speedy recovery, was clearly visible.
Seeing Ashley’s handwriting, Zark’s heart unconsciously softened a bit. He gazed absently at the small card, which was signed “Ashley”.
Noticing him standing there frozen, Ethan called out,”Zark, come sit down. What are you looking at?”
Zark snapped back, noticing Ethan and Chase watching him.
His eyes met Chase’s, and he looked away. After a quick “Alright,” he put down the fruit basket and startedto sit but paused. He turned back and moved the basket, placing it beside Ashley’s gift.
As soon as Zark sat down, Chase’s phone rang.
It was Tanya calling.
Chase saw who it was and picked up.
On the other end, Tanya asked, concerned, “How’s Grandma doing? Is she awake yet?”
‘Not yet.”
“What about Sam? Is he feeling better?”
‘Much better.”
“Can I talk to Sam for a bit?”
“Sure.”
Chase handed the phone to Sam.
Sam:”Is that Auntie Tanya?”
Yep
Sam quickly took the phone and, in a sweet, slightly whiny voice, said, “Auntie Tanya…”
Realizing it was Tanya calling, Ethan rubbed his nose.
Before Chase arrived, he’d called to asked if Tanya would visit Emily at the hospital.
Chase said no.
He found out later that Lily had issued an ultimatum the night before, specifically forbidding Tanya from visiting Emily.
Actually, Lily said, “Don’t bring strangers into the room to disturb Grandma during her recovery.
Ethan remembered and was about to gossip but saw Sam and the butler and held back.
Chase and Zark both had important matters to attend to, so after visiting Emily, neither Zark nor Ethan stayed in the room for long.
But then again, it had been a pretty long time since the guys had all eaten together.
Before leaving, Ethan said, “If you can all spare some time, wanna meet up tonight?”
Chase and Zark chimed in simultaneously, “Sounds good.”
Chase was swamped with work at the hospital all day. In the evening, Lily relieved him, and he went to the restaurant Ethan booked.
Sam had gone back to the Jones Family’s place around lunchtime.
So, Chase went to the restaurant alone that evening.
When he arrived at the restaurant, Zark and Ethan were already there.
Tanya was the last to arrive.
She pushed the door open and entered the private room. Chase turned his head to look at her, and was the first to speak: “You’re here?”
Tanya smiled.”Mm-hmm.”
As she responded, she also noticed Zark.
Initially, when she learned that Zark had changed his mind and fallen for Ashley, she was surprised. Beyond that, she found it incredibly puzzling.
She couldn’t understand what Ashley had-besides looks-that would make Zark fall for her.
What’s more, back then, Zark had absolutely despised Ashley because she’d drugged Chase and forced him into marriage.
She couldn’t understand why Zark suddenly changed and fell for her.
But now…
She thought back to the parking lot scene days ago… How Ashley co-founded Eternal with Tim, How CUAP, a company she admired, was built under Ashley’s lead. How close Ashley seemed with William’s wife, Riley. How Eternal was now raking in cash-with Ashley in it. All the bits and pieces from the past six months suddenly clicked. She finally got what Zark saw in Ashley.
In other words, Zark might have known that Ashley was William’s student a long, long time ago.
He probably already knew about Ashley’s connection to Eternal too.
But even knowing so much about Ashley, he had never said a word to her…
Thinking back to how hard she tried in front of him, just to get William’s attention; remembering how many times she expressed admiration for the developers of CUAP, she felt like nothing but a clown.
It was absolutely laughable!
As all this sank in, Tanya clenched her bag tightly, biting down hard on her teeth, just barely managing to keep her composure.
Still, a faint sheen of tears, born of shame, welled up in her eyes.
By now, she realized Zark probably no longer had those kinds of feelings for her.
His feelings had, without him even realizing it, already gone entirely to Ashley!
Tanya’s mind reeled, though only a few seconds had actually passed.

Chase noticed she’d suddenly stopped moving. He turned his head to look at her, and just as he was about to speak, he noticed how incredibly pale she looked. He paused. “What’s wrong?” he asked. “You look awful.”
Hearing this, Ethan and Zark, who had been talking, also looked over at her.
Tanya’s hands, clutching her bag, were white. She struggled to control her emotions, and two seconds later, she managed to force a smile. It’s nothing,”
she said.
