Wake Up Leave The Liar novel Chapter 67

Chapter 44

Tim said, “This is… coincidental.”

Chase replied, “It is.”

Tim said, ‘Go ahead, we’ll take the next one.”

See you next time.’

“See you.”

The elevator doors closed. Ashley and Tim waited for the next one. Ashley’s phone rang – Sam. She walked away and answered, “Hello.”

“Mom, are you off work? When are you coming home?” Since her injury, he’d called daily. Knowing she was better, he asked when she’d come home yesterday. But Ashley was too busy to go back.

Yeah. I’ll be back soon.” The elevator reached the ground floor.

Molly asked curiously, “Miss Jones, you have a child?”

Ashley answered, “Yes.”

“Oh…” He’d thought she and Tim were dating. Their relationship seemed close; Tim was very considerate. Gary was surprised too; she looked young.

He casually asked, “Does your husband work in this field too?”

Ashley paused and then replied, “Yes.” Molly knew she was skilled. He thought her husband worked in tech too and wanted to ask his name, but seeing her indifferent expression, he stopped.

Tim wanted to say her husband was Chase Sterling! But they were almost divorced. If he revealed this, it might affect their collaboration. More importantly, it might lead to people targeting Ashley to please Tanya. Tim decided not to say anything.

They left Speed. Ashley drove home; Sam was waiting downstairs. Seeing her, he rushed over,”Mommy!”

Hmm. Ashley ruffled his hair. Just as she was about to ask if he was hungry, he looked at her foot and asked, “Mom, are you better?

Ashley answered, “Yes.”

“Where was it hurt? Let me see.”

No need, I’m fine.”

“Let me see.”

Ashley took off her shoe and pointed to her ankle. Sam knelt down,”There’s no wound…”

The swelling’s gone.”

“Oh… Mom, you can’t stand for too long. Dinner’s ready. Let’s eat.”

Ashley smiled “Okay”

Sam happily pulled her to the dining room. Only two sets of chopsticks were there. Chase’s seat was empty. Sam explained, “Dad said he’s busy and wouldn’t come back for dinner. Just you and me.”

Remembering seeing Chase and Tanya in the elevator, Ashley wondered if Chase was having dinner with Tanya. She didn’t say it.

During dinner, Ashley chatted with Sam. Perhaps because she gave him more freedom, he was closer to her and less impatient. After dinner, he asked her to help him bathe, wash his hair, and dry it.

She agreed. Later, he asked her to take him to school tomorrow. She agreed, too.

They hadn’t seen each other properly for ten days since the hot spring resort. She stayed at the house that night, but not in the master bedroom; she slept with Sam.

Sam wondered why she didn’t sleep with Chase, but he liked sleeping with her. He just needed to be careful when talking to Tanya.

It was 11 pm when Ashley went to bed; Chase hadn’t returned. The next day, she learned he hadn’t returned last night. So, he was with Tanya all night…

Ashley took Sam to school and went to Eternal.

Sam’s attention was always on Tanya.

He only needed her when he missed her or when Chase wasn’t around.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t even think about her.

After her ankle healed, he didn’t call her daily or ask why she wasn’t home. As for Chase, he never cared about her whereabouts.

Eternal secured two projects; there was a company outing. The staff decided on a hot spring resort. Ashley paused, smiling wryly.

Tim asked, “What, you don’t like it?

“It’s complicated.” She remembered being left alone at the resort two weeks ago. It felt like yesterday, but it was almost two weeks ago. Time flew.

She didn’t want to go, but it was her first outing. In the end, she went. The previous resort belonged to the Sterling family. This was a large resort with

various amenities.

After changing, Ashley went to the hot spring.

Other female colleagues hadn’t arrived yet. A girl, about Sam’s age, was crouching by the pool, reaching into the water.

The pool was 1.2 meters deep; the girl was shorter. Ashley was about to help when she heard a splash. The girl fell in. Ashley quickly rescued her, holding her as she coughed and cried.

Ashley patted her back, comforted her and asked her about her family. When she was taking the girl to find the staff, she saw Zark nearby. Before Ashley could react, the girl cried, reaching for Zark

“Uncle Zark…”
