Wake Up Leave The Liar novel Chapter 73

Chapter 50

Meras

Leaving the stables, Ashley didn’t know where to go.

Cindy and Tim were busy. She wanted to go to Amanda’s, but Sam wasn’t with her; she didn’t want to worry her grandmother.

Seeing a wetland park with families camping and young people relaxing, Ashley felt a pang of envy and sadness.

After a while, she stopped the car. Thinking for a moment, she called someone.

“Hello, it’s Ashley Jones. Is my mother doing okay?”

An hour and a half later, she was at Peace Nursing Home.

Seeing Lucy, frail and listless, Ashley felt a pang of sadness.

The director said softly, “Same as usual; no changes.” Lucy would have attacks whenever she came into contact with people from the past.

She was calm now; Ashley didn’t want to ruin that.

She left the courtyard, then thanked the director and staff.

Thank you for taking care of my mother.”

Please don’t say that, Miss Jones.”

Ashley looked at Lucy through the window, left some books and supplies, and then left.

She was still sad. Passing the park, seeing kites in the sky, she turned around and went inside. The park was happy, but she was alone. She was considering buying a kite when a small hand grasped hers.

“Auntie.”

Ashley looked up and was surprised.”Betty?”

Betty nodded, holding her hand.

“Betty…” Zark walked over, stopping when he saw Ashley. He came closer to her, saying, “Didn’t know

Hmm.

“With Sam?”

Ashley said calmly, “No, I’m alone.”

you were here.”

Zark seemed to understand and remained silent. Ashley wanted to leave when Betty said, “Auntie, let’s fly a kite.”

Ashley refused. “I’m busy.”

Burke was disappointed. “Oh…”

Zark said, “How about joining us? Just me and Betty,”

Knowing what she was worried about, he added, “I’ll just watch; I won’t disturb you. You may have fun with Betty.”

Ashley liked Betty and she really didn’t want to be alone. She agreed. They chose a blue butterfly kite. Ashley had flown kites with Sam before, but this kite was so large that they couldn’t manage it.

Zark helped them silently. They laughed happily when the kite flew, Zark’s gaze deepened.

Ashley noticed that and asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

When they were done flying the kite, Ashley took Betty to fish. Zark watched them from afar. They looked at the fish in a pond, and fished with a small

net.

It was lunchtime. Zark suggested they go to a nearby restaurant. Ashley, who was completely relaxed, agreed.

Ashley chatted with Betty during lunch. Zark moved their favorite dishes closer. Then, his phone rang. He said to Ashley, “I’ll take a call.”

“Okay.”

It was Ethan. Zark went away, answering, “What is it?”

“Where are you? Did you have lunch? My friend sent me fresh seafood. Want to join us? Chase’s coming too.”

Zark looked at Ashley and Betty, and then refused.

I’ve had lunch. Maybe next time.”

“Any plans tonight? There’s a yacht party; Chase will be there. Bring Betty! We haven’t met her yet.”

Zark refused.”She doesn’t feel at home in a crowd.”

“Sam will be there; they can play together.7 P. M. We’ll be waiting for you.” Ethan hung up.

Zark didn’t get the chance to refuse.

After lunch, Ashley and Betty chased butterflies and rode bikes until they were tired. Betty fell asleep. Ashley wanted to go home and drove away. Zark

watched her leave and then left.

When Betty woke up, she frowned.

“Where’s Auntie?”

“She went home.”

Burke was disappointed.

“Oh…”
