Chapter 68
He wouldn’t come home; he was on a date with Tanya, and hadn’t even taken Sam….
Ashley remained calm, but curious. She texted Cindy.
Did you add Tanya on WeChat? How else did she get the screenshot?
“One of my friends knows her. She sent me the screenshot.”
Cindy didn’t mention that her friend was envious of Tanya. Everyone in their circle knew she’d snagged Chase and that he adored her.
Thinking about the extra invitation, Ashley asked Cindy if she wanted to go to the auction.
Cindy excitedly replied, “Yes! Absolutely!”
Chase didn’t return that night. Ashley had guessed as much. After the fireworks, they probably had a “romantic” night. She didn’t mind being alone.
The next day, Ashley and Cindy, elegantly dressed, arrived at the auction. Their attire wasn’t extravagant, but their striking beauty drew attention as they entered the hall.
Cindy, a regular at auctions and a prominent figure in the social circle, was recognized by many. Ashley, however, was a new face, prompting speculation about her family background.
Their seats were in the middle-rear section. They weren’t early.
A few minutes after they sat down, the auction was about to begin. Then, a commotion erupted in the front rows. Ashley and Cindy looked over.
Ashley stiffened after hearing what had happened.
Cindy said, “It’s Chase and Tanya… They’re here too.” She asked Ashley, ‘Did you know they were coming?”
Ashley shook her head. She hadn’t expected him to be there, and he hadn’t told her. After the last banquet and the tech expo, Tanya’s profile in high society had risen significantly. When she and Chase appeared, many focused on her.
Her outfit at the last banquet cost over three million dollars. This one is just as impressive.”
Forget the diamonds. That dress is by Imse, a top designer who’s been semi-retired. He only makes three custom gowns a year, each costing over ten million…”
Three million last time, and now tens of millions more… He’s spent tens of millions on her in just two events. He really cares about her.”
“Absolutely.”
Tanya wore a dazzling blue silk gown, adorned with stunning jewelry. She was undoubtedly the most captivating woman at the auction.
The front rows signified status. Amid the whispers and envious glances, Tanya and Chase sat in the center of the first row. This further fueled the envy of those around them.
The center of the first row… Wow! I wonder what it feels like. They must be spending a fortune tonight…”
“Don’t say it! It’s making me even more envious!”
Cindy leaned closer to Ashley, whispering, “They’re in the front row, and we’re stuck in the back…” Chase’s favoritism towards Tanya was nothing new. Ashley was used to it and didn’t care. She was here to buy a gift for her grandmother. Seating was inconsequential.
Cindy added, Doesn’t Chase know where we are? He hasn’t even looked our way.”
The tickets were likely arranged by Chase; he probably didn’t care where she sat.
And even if he knew, he probably wouldn’t pay attention to her.
He’d ignored her completely at the banquet and the tech expo.
