Chapter 341
Those words weren’t for Adrian. They were more like an update
she had kept in her heart for years, one she could finally give to
Leo.
It was a goodbye, a reassurance, and a way of letting go of her
past.
Adrian listened quietly, understanding her completely.
He didn’t say anything, just squeezed her hand tighter, as if to
say:
I’m here. I get it.
Feeling the warmth and strength from his hand, the last shadow
in Rebecca’s heart began to fade.
She let out a long sigh, as if a massive weight had been lifted
off her shoulders.
“Let’s go.”
She turned to Adrian and gave him a truly relaxed smile.
Chapter 341
A month went by in a flash.
Autumn was almost over, and the weather had gotten much
cooler. Every morning, Madeleine would check Roderick and
Kevin’s outfits before the father and son left.
“No, no, Roderick, you need to add a vest. It’ll be cold when you
go to inspect the site tonight.”
“Kev, how about Mommy helps you change into some fleece- lined pants?”
“Is the thermos filled with hot water, Kirsten?”
Roderick grabbed Madeleine, who was busy running all over the
place.
“Alright, my little manager. You’ll get gray hairs worrying so
much. You don’t have to do every single little thing.”
Kevin nodded from the side.
“Yeah, Mommy. Dad and I used to take care of ourselves
before. You don’t have to worry.”
Hearing this, Madeleine’s heart felt a bittersweet pang.
She crouched down, held the little guy, and kissed his cheek.

“It’s because I didn’t care for you enough before, so I have to
make up for it now.”
“Oh.”
The little guy nodded as if he half–understood; then suddenly
stood on his tiptoes and kissed Madeleine’s cheek too.
“Then I’ll make up for the kisses I missed giving Mommy
before.”
Madeleine’s heart melted at her son’s sudden, sweet
comeback. Her eyes grew warm as she hugged the little guy’s
soft body tightly.
“Oh my, how does our Kevin know how to make Mommy so
happy!”
Roderick stood to the side, his stern features softening with a
deep tenderness.
He raised his hand to look at his watch; it was about time.
“Kevin, go check your backpack. Mathew should be waiting for
you at the door.”
“Okay, Dad!”
Chapter 341
Kevin nodded obediently, hugged Madeleine again, and said,
“Bye, Mommy. I’m going to school. Be careful during your dance
practice.”
Watching the little guy’s figure hop away, Madeleine had a
contented smile on her face.
She turned around and naturally straightened Roderick’s
already perfect tie. “Be careful on the road, and come back early
tonight.”
But Roderick took her hand, looking at her with a deep gaze.
“What’s wrong?”
Madeleine felt a little shy under his gaze.
Roderick didn’t answer, but gestured to the driver, Mathew, who
was already waiting at the entrance.
“Mathew, you take Kevin to school first. My wife is driving
herself today. I’ll ride with her in a bit.”
Mathew was stunned for a moment, then nodded in
understanding. “Yes, sir.”
Madeleine was even more confused, blinking at Roderick. “I’m

driving?
When did I say I was going to drive?
Besides, we’re not going the same way…”
Before she could finish, Roderick had already taken her hand,
led her through the living room, and headed straight for the side
door to the garage.
The garage door slowly closed, shutting out the light and sound
from outside, leaving only a few motion–sensor lights glowing
softly.
Roderick gently pinned Madeleine against the car door, bracing
his arms on either side of her, trapping her in his embrace.
Roderick?”
