Walking Away While Pregnant: Dear Ex-Husband, I Don't Love You Anymore novel Chapter 165

Chapter 165: Chapter 165

When Dylan didn’t answer her call, she had no choice but to call Oliver instead.

Oliver picked up, but hearing her request to change the broadcast back to a pre-recorded format put him in a tough spot.

"Madam, you’ve only just returned to the country, so you might not be aware—Mr. Lee and Mr. Bennett have a history of business rivalries. Resolving this might be quite difficult. But rest assured, I will find a way to contact Mr. Bennett on my end, and the moment he gets back to me, I will report straight back to you."

Hearing his words, any remaining silver lining of hope in Fleur’s mind dissolved completely.

Footsteps approached from outside, followed immediately by a sharp knock on her stall door.

"Fleur? Are you done in there?! We really don’t have any time left!"

On the live-streaming set, the entire crew was at their designated posts, making final preparations.

Sitting behind the monitors, Director Kelly was blowing his top at his assistant. "Where on earth did Fleur go?!"

The assistant made frantic calls to Anna while scanning the room. Suddenly, his eyes froze. "Miss Bonnaire is here!"

Director Kelly looked in the direction he was pointing. Fleur was being dragged over by Anna.

Setting down his megaphone, Director Kelly stood up and strode over to them.

"Anna, how are you managing your talent?! The stream is about to go live!"

Anna offered a quick, apologetic smile. "Director Kelly, please calm down. Fleur just had a bit of an upset stomach and ran to the restroom."

Hearing this, Director Kelly’s expression softened slightly, and he turned his gaze to Fleur.

"We go live in twenty minutes. Fleur, hurry over and coordinate properly with those students. I’ll emphasize this one more time: this is a live broadcast, so absolutely no mistakes! Of course, if a minor hiccup occurs, the crew on set will step in to cover for you immediately. Our team consists of seasoned professionals—just keep your composure, perform steadily, and leave the rest to everyone else."

Her face pale, Fleur nodded in a daze.

Watching Fleur still out of it, Anna frowned in frustration. "Director Kelly brought in such a top-tier crew for you—this is one of the premier teams in the industry! Fleur, get your act together!"

Fleur gripped her dress tightly, her palms drenched in cold sweat. With things having spiraled to this point, her only option was to bite the bullet and press forward.

As the countdown to the live stream began, Director Kelly raised his megaphone and shouted:

"All units, standby! Live stream countdown... ten... nine... eight... seven..."

Outside the recording camp, a black sedan came to a stop.

Inside the car, Zoey sat in the driver’s seat, eyeing the live-stream feed on her phone. A sly smile touched her lips as she turned to the woman in the bucket hat sitting in the passenger seat. "We’ll wait here for now. Once she claims with her own mouth that she is ’Selin,’ we’ll make our entrance."

The woman nodded. "Alright."

In the stream’s chat room, the bots hired by the production team were flooding the public board with praise, all showering Fleur with compliments. Fleur responded eagerly.

Before long, the viewer count surged past thirty thousand.

Seeing the numbers, both Director Kelly and Anna were thrilled. Fleur, however, kept dragging her feet, hesitating to jump into the actual demonstration.

The viewers began to grow impatient. A flurry of comments urged her to get straight to the point, pointing out that they were there to support intangible cultural heritage—so she should speak less and do more!

Hidden beneath her long hair, Fleur wore a tiny Bluetooth earpiece. At that moment, Director Kelly’s voice barked through it: "Fleur, what are you standing around for? Get moving!"

Faced with no alternative, Fleur had to bite the bullet and signal the young apprentices to bring over the prepared tools.

Although the apprentices had only a rudimentary understanding of the craft, their movements were nimble and efficient, quickly laying out all the materials and tools Fleur needed for the live demonstration.

Not expecting them to be so fast, Fleur knit her brows imperceptibly.

Glancing at the tools laid before her, then back at the chat screen, her smile grew visibly strained.

"My apologies, everyone. This is my first time sharing our cultural heritage through a live broadcast, so I’m a bit nervous. If my demonstration falls short, I hope you’ll bear with me..."

Despite her modest words, she still made no move to begin. Instead, seeing fan comments chiming in to support her, she seized the chance to keep chatting with them.
